5150 amp problem

I have a peavey 5150 amp that I bought back in 1992. Last weekend I was playing a gig, got to the last song hit the opening chord and nothing. I changed guitars and still nothing. Luckily I had my gnx4 with me and it saved the night. Is it possible that I blew a tube? I can see the four power tubes in the back and the were still glowing. I can not see the five preamp tubes and was wondering if one of them is blown. All of the power indicator lights still work. I have had no problems with the amp before now. Any help would be great. Thanks alot.

  • Are you sure you didn't just toast a speaker? If you haven't already I would check the speaker with another amp or meter and check the amp
    with another speaker.
  • Depending on which vers 5150 you should check the internal fuses. F3/F4 may have fatigued or you may have a problem with an output tube. You could have defective send/ return jacks, input jack. Most of the common failures on the 5150.

Use caution and avoid high voltage caps. HV Dc shock can be lethal. Refer to a qualified tech if needed.
