I finally got the wife to sing with me!

It took forever but I finally talked my wife into helping me on a song. We did a simple worship song, Open The Eyes Of My Heart, Besides the fact that i love this song, she was more comfortable with one that we had done many times at church. She is scared and nervous but I still like to listen to her. I hope you enjoy as much as I do. The bt is all gnx3k, Ibenez bass, and Epi LP Custom.

Now here's my nickel's worth:
For one, if she's a nervous or not-confident singer, take as much pressure off her as you can. Here's what I'd do: record a simple b/t, then let her sing to it. First. And make it look like you're not listening to her or watching her...fiddle with some buttons or something so she doesn't feel any pressure of \"performing\".
Or...record the song using separate trax for everything; then when it's time for her to sing, disable all but the trax she needs to sing her part.
Trying to sing live with lots going on and getting all right is not easy; better to record one track at a time, and be able to mix later.
I know there are times when I am trying to show/help my ole lady with something and she is like I can't you making me nervous. And I am like what! I ain't doing/saying anything. And she says your around thats enough! LoL
But what a great asset to have a female singer ( built in ) and at the very least backing vocals 8)
rawb: we recorded on seperate trax so eliminating me is a simple click away. Believe it or not I have her volume and trim about twice what I have mine and everything else.
Like Rawb sez, she probably gets even more nervous when you're part of her performance. I'd bet that when you're there, she is less intent on what and how she's singing than she is on how she sounds to YOU. So take the pressure off, any way you can...you know her better than we do.
Just be glad you're married to a woman with a little humility...imagine being married to the songbird, who is so impressed with herself that she can't IMAGINE not sounding great. (although, I suppose there was a time where she didn't...19 years old, standing in a vocal booth in a $1000/hr Nashville studio with guys telling her how to sing... )
I'm sure in no time, once your wifey's tasted some success, she'll be doing great recordings and won't be able to get into the dungeon enough. (remember Fast Times At Ridgemont High, Phoebe Cates saying \"just keep doing it\")
Thanks for posting
One of the best things you could ever do is get some one involved, in something that they would not have tried.
Tell her she has a few fans now, and we would like to hear more.
