http://soundclick.com/share?songid=6736116

This was bouncing around in my head this afternoon so I thought I'd put it down and see if anyone can PLEASE tell me what it needs. I know its repetative but thats all I could get to come out.

  • I thought it was very good. I'm hearing it as a song, so it needs lyrics. The rhythm guitar was a little too loud to me. Add a nice bouncy bass track and do something slightly different in the middle and I think you'll have it.
  • Scott, I say it all depends what you want it to be. Has that upbeat E - Street feel to it imo, You have the midi working? Perhaps a little brass added to it 8) vocals if you want them, Got any ideas for an interlude of some sorts, a chorus if you add words. I think your on to something But I definately know the feeling ... want to bake a cake but don't have any eggs to hold it all together :lol::lol:
  • Thanks guys I'll use the suggestions and see what I can do with it. I have an idea about some lyrics (I was running it over in my head all day at work. Lol)
  • I liked it. Good feel, cruzin' tempo...my thing was that the sounds - while all neato - didn't blend together well.
If I were me, I take this melody, and redo it with other sounds. The rythm git'r was the one that scraped me a bit...
  • What do you think? More clean?
  • Actually, I liked the sound the the guitar-raw, loose.

Mebbe. The sound was a good one, but IMO it didn't \"fit\" into the sound of the song, with the rest of the sounds.
I thought the melody was great - that's why I suggested that remaking the tune with other sounds might make a difference.
But...I can't tell what you hear in your head, so you do what makes your ears happy!
  • Interesting piece. It sounds like the bass player from Yes and George Harrision jamming a Burt Bacharach song.

Very unique. Very few would have attempted such a mixture. I give it 7 out of 10 for originality.
  • Antony,
    Thanks glad you liked it.

    Buzz,
Chris Squire, G. Harrison and good ol' Burt!!:lol::lol: Wow thats a heck of a mix. Yes is one of my favorite bands though. Sometimes I don't even understand whats going around in my head :lol::lol::lol:

    Shredd,
I agree about the rythem guitar. I just can't find what I like for it yet. any suggestions????

The problem I had with it was that chunky, 60's sound. It clashed with the very musical tone of the solo git'r. One or the other could be altered to fit with the other.
If I were me - I'd change the rhythm git'r to something less chunky and more strummy. And less \"edge\" - meaning less of that \"chunky\" sound. It could be clean or distorted, but should be \"smoother\". If it were distorted, I'd go less OD tube sound and more SparkDrive or E/H BigMuff. You might also try experimenting with a nice clean strummy chorused sound, like the \"Jazz-120\" preset, or something like it...maybe even a hint of short delay, with minimal decay.
So...if I get into sound production, can I sleep with Shania???
  • thanks Shredd I'm off work today so I'll try these out. And If Shania comes over knock yourself out. :P

Yah, it's cool to experiment...I have several songs that started out one way and ended up another, often with significant changes. It could mean I like to experiment, or it could mean I'm a lousy songwriter and I have to keep trying to make something sound good.

And if I could get my hands on Shania, SHE'D be the one trying to catch her breath...
  • Liked it. Agree with shredd in that it has a cruising, out on the highway feel.

I think what you have here is the chorus to something. In other words, maybe write verses to another set of changes complementing this. I just hear it as the chorus part to a song. Also agree that the rythmn should be a cleaner type patch along the lines shredd suggested with maybe some single note picking layered in.

    Definitely great start.

  • I'm trying a Fender 12 string for the rythmn now not sure if I like it so I'm still playing with it.

Go nuts dood. Try all sorts of stuff, you'll be sitting there fiddling with sounds etc, when suddenly Shania will pop out of the hot tub and go \"that's IT!!!\". And you'll forget what you were playing 'cuz your tongue is hanging over your git'r neck...
    Oh wait. That's me.
