Good to Me RUFF CUT
Hey all it has been soooooooo long since I've done anything new. Busy, just moved 3 weeks ago etc.. I was very reluctant to even post this it's just the basic Idea as to how the song will go. Just a 1/8beat GNX4 loop & Acoustic guitar recorded as 1 track on the onboard recorder. & a vocal track done in Sonar after track was imported into the project. Key will most likely be lowered! No Solo as of yet? Maybe it will be on the Strat if I have it by then? 8) Anyhow this is just basically to show I'm still alive & ocasionally get some inspiration & time to work with it 8)

What is your accoustic? Were you using any fx. To me it sounded like an ovation sound!?
Let us know when you get it all worked out! 8) For sure want to hear a completed version!
Scott do with what you feel led to do. My only goal for my Music is it to glorify God! If it can be used the way you expressed? Amen So be it. I'm deffinetly going to work on this song & make it real tight! Add a Solo, better more Human Drum Track, Bass Line & most deffinetly Lower the Key to B flat to suit my Range better. Thanks again bro for the kind words!
Thanks for sharing
peace
strong tune. Not sure why you would hesitate posting it.
It always starts and ends with the writing. You have a strong song here. It just needs production. I sure wish I was living next door...we would have a great time recording this puppy.
Well done to both of you
The quality of the recording sounds very good. Did you use the Ovation for this? Good accoustic sound! Which Sonar are you using?
Strat man yes this was the Ovation recorded direct in the mic input with drums loop 1/8th beat all 1 track on the gnx4 onbaord recorder. I inported that track into Sonar 5 Producer & took the Vocal in 2 takes was not happy with the first take at all! it is still high for me & will be lowered for my my vocal range. As I said hopefully you will hear some Strat tones in this more completed version of this song! 8) Thanks again All!!
That said...nice! If this is a first cut, the tune has HUGE potential.
Here's my nickels' worth:
Definitely drop a coupla semitones; A to G, whatever. Basically, play the song in the key your voice is most comfortable in.
I like acoustics to have a nice, clear tone; I'd have upped the mids/treble a hair. Especially with those clear, crispy drums. And make sure you aren't recording with spanked-out strings...
If I were going for a building feel, I'd start introducing subtle, sustain'y electric in the background somewhere after the first verse. If you're going for pretty/ballad-y, perhaps secondary acoustic track, with plucked chords using some chorus and/or mild delay?
Making room for a pretty non-distorted solo would be nice too. And it'd allow you to solo over the same verse and use a different sound while soloing, to \"break up\" the (is there a nice word for monotony?!? ) of the melody. Maybe even write a chorus or break/bridge section.
Sadly, I don't have the faith you do - otherwise I'd be less interested in the petty sonic details of the song and more in the lovely message. Very well done!!! 8)
Good stuff eric! I can't beleive you have time and attention to write new songs so soon after moving; I've been here a week and I just finished setting up my studio and picked up a git'r last nite for the first time in over two weeks.
