  • If you plan to record to a computer, then go for the GNX 3000.
It's better than the GNX 4 in modeling.
I use it live and in the studio and never disapoints me.
The learning curve on the 3000 is not very hard, is very intuitive if you are familiar to FX parameters, the manual is very helpful and here at the forum you can find answers to every question you could have.
  • The GNX4 costs more because it is, in my humble opinion, a better machine.
  • My vote is for the GNX4.
Basically: if tonal perfection and variety is important, get the 3000K. If every other aspect is important, get the GNX4.
  • what is tonal perfection???

    :?

it sais that have better sound quality the gnx3000???

Tonal perfection is when you play like dirt, but you sound so good that Shania calls you up at midnight asking to come over and hot tub.

Oh. You mean in a GNX?
Nothing is \"perfect\". I just meant that the 3000 has a newer audio engine chip and is rumored to have \"better\" sound and amp/cab modeling abiliites.
Personally, I like the sounds on my GNX4 fine, and I couldn't live without the on-board recorder and other great features.

Also, any GNX can be made to sound better with good presets. You can download them and tweak to your liking; make your own; or buy the SuperModels, which are terrific.
  • is rumored???

    or is a true??

Other question, if i want to record and built a song with my computer, the two machines are equality in all???

    .--

And, what the people says about that the 3000 spend much time into change their effects???

    ---

For a live performance, is one better than the other??

    thanks!!!
  • I hope you posted the same question to the GNX3000 forum. They may be biased toward their pedal like most of us favor our GNX4 on this forum.

Like Shredd, I could not live without the recorder on the GNX4. That and lots of other features the GNX4 has that the other pedals do not include. If you compare features to features, every other pedal seems to come up short of the GNX4.
  • There's a gnx3000? :P

  • and to a live performance...

    what is better???
  • I own a GNX3000 and am more than happy with its live performance. There was a steep (and painful!) learning curve initially, but I am now over the really steep bit of that curve.

I use my pedal in 'stompbox' mode (I think!) - i.e I stick on one preset per song. There are two standard amp models available per preset, plus a stompbox, modulation type effect such as phaser or chorus (many others too!!) and delay and wah all available to bring in or out in that preset instantaneously. (individually that is!)

This will be jibberish to you until you get your pedal!!

    I haven't tried a GNX4, so I can't really comment.

To throw a further spanner in your works, digitech have brought a new pedal out recently - RP500

Even more amp models etc than GNX3000, but will only record 2 channels of audio simultaneously to computer.

Ooops - I've written more than 3 lines!!!
  • I myself have a GNX4, which I'm extremely happy with. I rarely play live, but I do record a lot, and find the '4's sound quality to be plenty good. But I haven't used a 3K either. Iliace has both.
For what it's worth - the GNX allows you to move up and down presets, so you can arrange them as you need them. You can even bounce back and forth between two.
I think all GNX's - or any other multi-effects unit - have a steep learning curve. The GNX isn't some simple stompbox...it's very complex. But once you've learned your way around, it'll do anything you want. 8)
