my new band's demo

Here's a six-song demo from my latest project, a cover group called 56kay.

All guitars were recorded directly to GNX3000 -> Eon P1 and mic'ed with a condenser mic and an SM-57. Except for the R&B song, on which I played keyboards.

Let me know what you guys think!

At the risk of being banned from the forum? Uh ya man uh excellent, ya thats it excellent.

What I think? Seriously, you guys & gal sound real good! I would like to check your show out, but Md is a bit far for a friday night out.

Is this the same bunch you posted the vids with? The male vocals are real good. But personally that chick you got fronting on some of those tunes is outstanding! I can see alot of potential there ! The begining of Fly away she seemed a little weak but ended strong, whether that was by design or not I don't know. But like I said before she was out standing on waterfall & on n on. She harmonizes well ( that is her doing the chorus work too? ) on water fall , I thought the male vocals could've been down just a touch to let her shine a little more! imo

Over all? See you in Hollywood! :D A 10. 8)

Well that's what I think, Hope I can log on to the forum next time I try to.
  • Yup, same bunch as before. Maybe I should have created another user to maintain anonymity? But then nobody would listen to it...

Thanks for your comments, really appreciate it.
  • :x AAAARRRG :!: Cant open these at work check it out when I get home. :?
  • *.wma's don't work on mac's, either...QuickTime thinks they're movies, but no video.

Rumor has it your new singer's a cutie...think she'd come over for a hot tub? Or at least to record vox for the dozen songs I have in the can?!? :?
  • My oh my, On and On. If you only download one tune this year make it On and On, My oh my.

Who is this singing, sparks fly, fine backing vocals and On and on, my oh my.

    thanks for the tunes
  • well done iliace....all good covers to get them dancing...
i'd come and see you guys...but it's an awful commute. Keep up the great work! Your Lady singer...Wow!
  • They were quite good. I love the female vox....and lets not trivialize the effort that went into singing Tush...it's no easy piece to sing. The recordings are crisp and clean. Some of the best I've heard on this forum.
    ....but why so dry? lol

A small amount of reverb & delay on the vox and BOOM!!! You got some deadly recordings. I would certainly pay cover to see your band in a club.
  • The recordings were done in an actual studio... well-isolated sound, expensive mics and preamps, all-analog signal path with a ProTools HD on a powerful workstation at the end. That would account for the \"crisp\". Why so dry... I'll have to ask our producer. He was experimenting with a variety of mixing techniques.

    Thanks for listening!
  • I could hear the quality right away. The effects are optional in most cases.

Too many studios saturate the mix with effects anyway, your engineer was probably looking for a nice clean, tight sound....and he found it!!!

My only complaint now, is you posted too many...lol. I have to play a song over a few times to get a true feel for it. I just spent an hour listening to your stuff. Gee, I feel like the 5th member :)
  • FINally got on a PC and gave these all a listen. REALLY good work. Good covers, good sound, good mix, good vox. You got it goin' on there.
So where's the hott pictorials of the front chick?!?
