This one is a '79. I also had one - an '80 - back in the day, and was stupid enough to sell it . It was an MC300NT and mint. This one is an MC200NT, and in pretty darn great shape for a 30 yr old ax. It sounds terrific - pure as the day it was built - and plays like a dream. No modern git'r can compare!!!
The great thing is, it's made in Japan, not China or Indonesia or whatever. When I picked it up n played it I was reminded what a git'r should be built like. I like this thing so much I could see it taking over as my main electric from my RG3, although while I was souping up the RG3 I put coil-tapped D/M PAF Pro's in it and they sound pretty great...
  • Cool beans Shredd! 8) That guitar looks great!! I bet it sounds very nice! Now lets hear that thing! 8) :D
  • OK, so here's a few lix I threw onto the GNX while playing with my new 'binez. Love the thing, it's got hot, clear sound.
Sorry if it's lame sound, lame playing, or lame lick selection  ...but hey, I did this in about 15 minutes. I'm sure this thing actually sounds better than this...it'll probably appear on my next recording/posting...stay tuned...
    WARNING: RUSH licks involved. 8)

  • Awsome!! 8) I'll keep my eyes peeled for new stuff from you! That sounded great to me all around clean to overdriven! Very nice! 8) :D Hey those licks were not that bad!

I'm often ridiculed for thinking RUSH is a great band, or even good....so I get a little defensive about it.. Especially when the criticism comes from some gwuat who thinks Slash is Gawd.

Rush is a great band. I've seen them 9 times in NY/NJ. With that said, I wouldn't consider Lifeson a great lead guitarist. He's a fantastic guitarist, but most of their songs don't need a fantastic solo to bring it over the top. The songs are strong enough to stand on their own without large solos.

 (I corrected with to without)

That's a very good assessment, whether a fan or not. He's an imaginitive soloist, but hardly a groundbreaking world-beater. I have a special liking of his ability to create incredible textures and sounds that are well-suited to the song at hand. It's like having a secondary element to his playing that extends beyond the actual musical content.
IMHO, where the band excels is in songwriting (by my measure, THE single most important element of good music), willingness to experiment, and live performance.
They also have one bad-a$$ drummer. 8)

The ones who really steam my beans are the ones who dismiss the band and their music by saying \"how can you listen to that guy sing?!?\". Like Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Young Neil, et al are such great singers, right? :? After a long period of trying to get people past it - heck, I even created a series of CD's to make it easier for people to dig RUSH...I did \"RUSH For Beginners\", \"RUSH For Intermediates\", and \"Advanced RUSH\" - I figured, if some qwuat wants to let his dislike for Ged's vox keep him from enjoying great songs, incredible concerts, the best drummer in the world, killer bass work, etc etc - then fine. Go enjoy your Guns n Roses albums.
  • It is a beaut! Is that sucker heavy?
  • Dang shred, I'm feeling some hostile vibes comming off that last paragraph! :? Can't convince anyone to like something, I learned that 30 yrs ago. Imagine my insecurities being a teenager, when everyone was touting the ussual suspects zep, aerosmith, floyd, boc, rush etc. which I liked too. But then there I was touting Billy Cobham ( Tommy Bolins work on the spectrum lp  8) ) and all them fusion cats. Return to Forever! and all the four horsemens solo lp's. everyone would look at me and say WTF! put some WHO on... Everybody ain't gonna like everybody!

Sh!t man them folks get just as hostile as you when someone starts slamming what they like ! Just cuz you don't like something and others do, how come you can slam it ,b u t they can't slam what you like.

So that is what I learned wayback when, I like what I like and that's it! I don't have to justify my musical taste to no one!

But trying to promote something to other musicians is a whole other ballgame!
  • It is a beaut! Is that sucker heavy?
Yes. Like, Les Paul heavy. But sounds even better!!! 8)

No hostility intended. Frustration, perhaps...but no slam. I don't care what anyone - musician or not - likes OR dislikes, as long as they don't rag me for what I like. You think I wouldn't sleep with a Beyonce fan?

Soooo...whattya think of my tasty new/old fiddle??? 8)

Fiddle? Where's the pic? But that is a nice 'IB' 8) guitar. Feeling inspired no doubt! :P

Good thing the chicks are like they are in your area of the world. You may not have all this new gear, but spending it on the gear they want! Just a thought. Count your blessing.
