  • step down converter most likely

check with local electronics dist in your region. Ask about 220-120vac step down converters. They range in wattage. As low as 50w and as high as 1600 on the budget side.

You could probably use the 50-60W system for those devices on a standard outlet strip.
  • Hootman, ya out there!? Someone down under needs help!
  • Thanks guys for the input..Keep em coming you clever little buggers.

  • Yebm I'm here.

First off, welcome to Australia! I hope you like it here. I see you've already got the lingo down!

    :D:D:D

    Whereabouts are you located?

Anyway, check this out, you can get it from most Dick Smith electronic stores:

Its $100 AUD, but these things cost that much if you want quality .

The other option is to buy replacement power supplys for each item... you can find these at dick smith or jaycar electronics
    www.jaycar.com.au

PS. You'll find Australia's system of mains plugs the safest in the world. Also, our safety standards for electricity means that everything is very very safe; you'd be very unlucky to get broken equipment.
  • Australia.....great country.....great people...

BUT WE WILL NEVER FORGIVE YOU FOR UNLEASHING RUPPERT MURDOCH ON THE WORLD!
  • Is that cancelled out by unleashing AC/DC on the world? :D:D:lol::lol:

No...well, almost....throw in Rachel Hunter and we'll call it even.
  • Thanks Guys & the \"thehootman\" for the imput really appreciate it ..but when you say a step down transformer is that for all 3 items (peadals/preamp) into a power strip which runs all three?

And when you say buy seperate power supplies for each unit do you mean seperate Stepdown transformers or something else? if so are there any cheaper adaptors in Australia because at $100 a pop it is quite expensive.

Each unit draws only 4.5watt, 4.8watt, 22watt, under 30watts total any chance of a cheaper alternative without frying my gear? I was told there are many step down transformers on ebay for about $40 but I have no idea which to get. your advice is welcome on this one guys.

    Thanks to all that reply

  • Hey there Cistec,

Welcome to Oz buddy, hope ya enjoy yourself! What part of this wonderful land do you call home?

As far as I know you would only need the single step down for all your components. I know of another guy who came here from the states and from memory I think thats what he did. I guess its a bit different to amps where you can select your power via switch so I'd go check with a sparky (electrician) just in case.

    Hope this helps 8)

  • Power point --> transformer(240 - 115) --> US style powerboard/ powerstrip --> gear.

When I say seperate power supplies I the little black AC- DC convertors.
