Fender Strat

Hey all I would like some feedback on this guitar. Do any of you all have experience with this sweet American Delux Strat? Anyhow I think it is Stunning! & seems like it should be flexible enough for me? Maybe there could be a better recommendation in the same price Range? I deffinetly don't want to spend more than this! Anyhow feedback & comments much appreciated you fellows know this stuff a whole lot more than me!! :D Here is the link:

  • I love strats, but I haven't played that particular one. One other guitar to consider in the same price range is the Carvin DC 135T. Its around the same price depending upon options.

For a great S/S/H guitar at a bargain price, consider the Godin Exit 22. Godins are IMHO the best bargain going.
  • ESP's are also reputed to be fine git'r at a good price. I personally love Ibanez's, but I can't speak to price/value.

This strat is nice, pretty much has all the things I'd demand in a stratoblaster if I had one: a humbucker @ bridge; the American version of the bridge (the standard version is GARBAGE); the S-1 switching....and I loooooove ebony fretboards. I'd prefer a hardtail, but Leo isn't returning my phone calls.

It's a beautiful instrument too; just remember that with no pickguard, every pick-mark will show up in the glossy finish...

Nice rig though. 8) That said - the price is too high. Unless the dealer will haggle off about 20-30% of that price, or the git'r is so stellar that it makes you moist to play it, I'd consider shopping around. Play some other stuff. I'm willing to bet you'd find something you like as well, for half the price. Extra $$$ for the Fender sticker. :? For that kind of money you should get neck-through, or at least a set neck, top-shelf aftermarket pups, and better tuners than Fender typically uses. You'd probably end up putting a bone nut on it too, that'll run you about $60 at a decent shop. Although this one has the roller nut, which is better than the standard, but also subject to opinion as to whether it works or not. guys?
  • Partchie, you can't go wrong with an American Strat. The new ones are simply fantastic. I love the new \"C\" shape neck. I love the feel so much, I bought a new neck for my strat.

The only thing I could say negative about that guitar is that it has a full humbucker in the bridge. I much rather the \"classic\" look of 3 single-coils. I'm not saying I'm against humbuckers, especially since I have a hot rail in my strat. I love that pickup and it fits perfectly in a single coil slot. A humbucker in a single-coil slot. Perfect.
  • Every guitar player should own a strat. I have a USA Strat and love it it to pieces. Mine has the classic 3 SC pups. I've also got a Epi les paul and an Ibanez rg, the Ibanez is my fav cause of the slim neck but the strat sounds and plays great.

I have an American Series model, which is a slightly cheaper but still made in the USA.

Think im gonna go play it now
  • Hey Partch, I have never played that particular model, but the Strat, in my opinion, is one the most versatile guitars made.

As I stated in my \"what song are you learning\" post, I am getting the itch for another strat. I really like this semi-hollow Washburn, I bought last year, but when you need that sound you get with the 2nd or 4th position switch, you just got to have the strat or a clone.

Once you get them dialed in there isn't much you can't do.

Play as many as you can, when you find it you'll know.

    Good luck.

    peace
  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>I have an American Deluxe Stratocaster FMT HSS (about 2 years old now). Although I'm no great player, of all of my electrics (Tele, Ibanez, have had Les Paul, ES-335, Mexican strat, etc.), this is the best guitar and the one I come back to all of the time. I still have the Tele and Ibanez which are distinct in their own right, but nothing like a Strat.

The locking tuners are fantastic and it stays in tune really well. The extra $100 or so for the Deluxe over the regular American is well worth it. Changing strings is a snap.

The humbucker is cool to have, but it is not hot and nasty like with a Les Paul. But then again, this is a strat and not a Les Paul. It also is a better deal than a Les Paul. I spent 50% more on a Les Paul Studio and ended up getting rid of it because of an uncorrectable static problem. I have not had any static problems with my strat (noiseless pickups are great).
  • Hey thanks all for all the comments! They all have been very helpful!! I just want to make sure when I pull the trigger on this There is no known issue or potential problem I will regret after the fact! I'd say all in all It's the unique looks & Features that attract me to this one over say a Standard or Delux with 3 single coils. Yeah I've heard this bridge will not be that Hot or Awe inspiring persay? That is O.K. I have the Ibanez for more of that Heavier type stuff! Thanks again & still anymore comments & feedback is welcommed on this!! Especially first hand playing experince! 8) :D
  • Not that I would necessarily think about hopping up a US strat, but the back routed body makes for easy pickup changes. Just another good point to consider. Also, if the guitar doesn't already have it, you could replace one pot with a push pull pot and coil split the humbucker to give the option of three single coils.
  • bang for the buck argument could go on forever

if this is the guitar that just by looking at it ,inspires you to play then get it!!!........but with any guitar.....make sure you get a pro-set up as soon as you get it!!Fenders are great and have good resale 8) but their factory set-ups are like most other \"popular\"companies.....in need of help
  • <div style="displaynone">fiogf49gjkf0d</div>There is no reason to switch out the bridge pickup to get single-coil. That is what the S1 switch is for. You have lots of pickup combinations with the switch.
  • Hey Partch, So what have you decided? Inquiring minds want to know. Just kiddin'.

So today I got talked into trying out a JS1000. Very nice geetar. I did not realize it had coil taps and a filter to keep the highs up with the volume is rolled down.

I had never considered a JS1000 before but now it's on my list.

I'm going to go try a few Deluxe Player's Strat next.

    peace
  • Hey Mike I have a JS1000!! Awsome guitar!! I have not found the coil Taps to be that usable? Pretty noisy thru my Rig When not being played. I udon't do much Volume Roll off either. I control everything thru the patch in Stompbox mode not the guitar volume knob? BUT that is a realy nice feature & you do not lose the high shimmer 8) You would not be disapointed with it! I know I'm not!! This Strat is not about not likeing the JS anymore!! Just want some good single coil Strat Sounds!! This would probbably be my Church guitar most Sundays unless we were realy doing an edgy set.

What I've found out is I'm not getting this thing till July unless I find it in some fairly local Music store?? It is in production Run now & due in the Stores I talked to in July. There is a waiting list at Sweetwater 3 ahead of me if I decide to take the plunge?? I may have to compromise? I was thinking the Ash one? with the 3 singles? Here this one:

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/product/reviews/so=asc/rpp=10/sc=overall/page=1/base_pid=511143

I could always wire a Hot Rail if I had to have the Humbucker?? Like Ed said it fits right in the single pickup slot BUT has the Humbucker Punch & Gain. Anyhow it is a thought at this point. As July is a long way off!! & I get my Economic Stimules package direct deposite tomorrow I think?? Gota stimulate that Economy Mike  8)
  • UPDATE!!

I decided to NOT Compromise!! I mean hey this is the guitar I was attracted to! Why should I compromise for the sake of having a new guitar right away that is stock somewhere? Even if it is the same line strat same features etc.. IT's not the guitar that I intended to buy in the first place. So anyhow I put the Original FMT Strat on Order last night I more and likely will not have it till July early August? BUT it will be whorth it then for not compromising what I originaly decided on just for instant gratification!!

By the way I had played one of these Bad boys thru a Hot Rod Deluxe last weekend Same guitar minus the FMT Body & Ebony Fretboard. Fantastic guitar Quality, feel, playability, tone, & variation  This is truly an Awsome Guitar!! Not the JS1000 BUT hey it's a Start it's not supposed to be? I hope the JS don't find the case after this and End up staying there!!? I can deffinetly see not wanting to put this thing down!!

Now the Long wait insues :(

Good things come to those who wait. 8)
  • I think you'll love it, but then again, I am a strat guy. It kinda reminds me of the one I picked-up this weeked with the SSH configuration and the rear routed body. I'm pretty sure you'll find a use for your JS after your strat arrives. Even with the overabundance I have, I find that I have at least 7 that get played very regularly and 3 or 4 more that get played when I record.
  • Congrats partch!

Doing covers in 2 groups I like having my old Strat for \"that\" sound. It's hard to imitate with anything else. I've played guitars with coil taps and that hoo ha, but the Strat has it's own natural mojo.
  • Partch, Congrats on the strat :!: You are gonna love that guitar. I hope you can hold out until July. :D

    peace
  • Good for you, deciding to spring for the git'r that you realllly want, instead of going for something that's \"as good\"...and you're gonna LOOOOVE that ebony fretboard. I had one on my 355 and it was like butta.
  • Hey thanks all for the comments etc.. Yeah Shredd My Ovation has an Ebony board & frankly as I have said before the FMT Top & Ebony Board are realy the only reason for holding out! The other Deluxe HSS has the same exact specs minus those 2. Yeah it will be hard to wait BUT when that thing shows up it will be whorth it then!! 8) All yeah I think you do get a slightly better guitar case $159 dollar one if you were to buy it seprate with this one & the standard deluxe HSS has there standard molded case I dig that deluxe brown hardshell case!! Kind of looks vintage?
  • Cant go wrong with made in the USA guitars. A sure bet you'll love it.
  • When you get it, scallop it

Yuh. And paint it with a Confederate flag pattern, and put those little chrome skull knobs on it.
