Home Concert Lighting
I just saved a set of 4 pinspot housings (400W each x 56 total projected beams:shock: ), from getting pitched out! My buddy that had them, didn't want them, because he said they were \"too heavy, had unsafe wiring, and bulbs aren't available\".
A trip to Lowe's hardware, I got new plugs and cords, 150W Halogen bulbs to fit the original bases. When I removed the old transformers and cooling fans, that took care of the unnecessary weight problem, too!
I'm adding a 16 pattern controller, some lens gels for color, a fog machine to see the beams, and then I'll have a personal garage concert stage!
What are other good lighting and effects that would be cool?
Graphics laser...
Scanner/spot...
UV...

corrected it for ya :P
i have actually thought of getting some lighting from gc or samash for my practiceroom/studio 8) i just need to stop buying guitars
I think it was \"Concert of Dreams\", that had some memorable sayings:
\"If you play it loud, they will come.\"
\"Is this Heaven? No, it's my garage.\"
Or was that something else?
At 150 watts, each lamp will draw about 1.25 amps. And you have 4 lamps is that correct? So just the lamps will pull about 6 amps. Anything else to throw into the mix?
peace
\" what are other efects?\" Since it is a garage, perhaps you could turn the hazard lights on in the vehical?
Just funning dude! Sounds pretty cool add your gnx and it looks like your gonna have some jamming parties! Is the forum invited?
Mike,
Don't fear, These 4 lights will be on a 4 channel controller, that can handle 1,650W total, and I'll only have 600W total.
With the controller, the lamps will be cycled on/off, to help keep bulbs cooler, too, instead of a constant on, all the time.
Without the transformer and fan in each housing, there's plenty of airflow to prevent overheating, too.
By mounting the lights on the garage walls, facing each other, angled slightly downwards, the 56 beams should intersect for an awesome pattern effect, and by adding gels, should be that much more captivating.
At this point, I'm already past beginning to build a lighting system, that I never even intended to have. For now, it's just the 4 lights, waiting on the controller, mounting and testing.
I will be adding a fog machine, and a ceiling mounted DVD projector, to jam with Lifesize DVD concerts!
I just bought my house, in the country, last year, and it came with 3 garages, total.
The biggest garage will hold 4-6 Chevelle sized cars, and will become the stage/studio. It has a high roof, and a truss system will fit inside, easily, and still clear the big garage door, to pull a car in, anyway.
Since I got these lights for free, and I restored them for free, only the parts cost, and the controller cost, then 150W is a safe in between bulb, for a cheap beginner project!
I will add more modern (DMX programmable) lighting and effects, progressively, until I can have a full neighborhood concert, but for now, I'm just excited to have what I have, and be happy with that!
peace
I'd better clarify that a \"neighborhood concert\" just means that I play LOUD enough that the neighborhood can hear, but only as long as the neighbors are not home, and working during the daytime hours that I'm home to play!
