  • I don't know of any battery powered monitors that would probably sound good at a reasonable enough price. You would probably be better off investing in a good pair of headphones and perhaps a headphone amplifier. It just depends on how much your willing to spend. Battery powered monitors are not something that has really been developed that I am aware of. And any battery powered speakers I have seen are real exspensive. It takes a fairly large battery to power anything substantial
and then how much time would you get from it before it dies? Maybe someone else has another take on this.
  • what about small cheap studio moniters that will sound good with the gnx 4 for low volume practicing at home. I cant really play my music too loud in my apartment. but sometimes it would be nice to play through speakers than through headphones
  • Hi vegichan
You might go and browse guitar centers web site and musicians friend and a host of others to get an idea of whats out there and the price ranges. Imo a question like that just gets opinions and then you don't know if you can trust them. How do you know a guy or gal isn't just telling you a crappy brand or model just to mess with you, and you listened to them and bought their suggestion. Only to find out they are crappy, $'s wasted. But it is a starting point, just take the suggestions with a grain of salt. It all boils down to your ears and budget, find out whats out there in your price range, then go and listen to them what sounds good to you is what matters. Or just drop 2 or 3+ grand and I doubt you would be disapointed no matter what brand you got!

You might think about solor powered monitors? I think they would be more cost effective in the long run, once you add up the cost of batteries over several years.

Oh and one other thing you might want to pm Shredd and ask him about speaker compensation. He knows all about that s**t! It's handy to know especially with solar powered monitors. :P
  • If your not to worried about quality and to much level, I have a pair of Radio Shack # 40-1312 that I got for a specific application years back.
    They run on 8- 1.5 c-cell batteries, 4-each speaker, or a 12volt wall wart.
Might still be available, There are probably others out now that are abit better. And yes there is nothing like going out and trying them out first hand. But don't expect miracles. Is there a specific reason you need battery powered? If you don't have to have battery powered you'll be able to find alot of options that are probably powered that will do what you need to for a more reasonable price. Although I have seen street musicians with battery powered amps, so I do know they are available. Just haven't researched it. If you got a stereo system why not use that as has been suggested on other posts? You'll just need the right adapters. Whole lot less exspensive.
  • I vote for a good pair of headphones.
