Help... Please

Im trying to jam along to my cd's with my Ipod. I have it connected to my Line in, but every time I use an effect or distortion it adds the same FX to the tune im listening to.

I have the GNX3k

Ya know...at least when I have brain-death episodes, I can blame it on my advanced age, or too much TV as a child...what's your excuse? Too much sunshine, cheap drinks, bikini babes, and free time?
