if you use powered studio monitors with a gnx system, do you need any other sort of powered amp or anything? or would you just run two XLR cables from the xlr outputs to the inputs on the back of the monitors? are they loud enough for like home practice?
im just lookin for some good monitors for a not so expensive price to replace my amp
No, there's a power amp built into it/them. I'd suggest doing it in stereo. You can get a pair of Behringer 2030's for not much, and they're pretty loud. My 2031's are REALly loud, I'd never crank them up.
You could run XLR's from the GNX to the powered speakers, but a lot of us run the GNX into a mixer, then out to the powered spkrs, so that you can use other sources as well thru your powereds. I run GNX, 2 mics, a synth, drum machine, iPod, and outs from my Tascam through my board.
ohh yea i see what youre sayin. yea i guess thatd be convenient if i sang or needed somethin else to run thru but i think ill just run the xlrs straight to the monitors. thatll sound just as good right? plus i cant afford a mixer too along with these monitors. but i did find a refurb pair on musiciansfriend for 259 thats like 100 $ off, assuming the refurbs work just as well
