RIP Dan

We lost another great one yesterday...Dan Fogelberg lost his cancer fight. Sad day - no matter what you think of him as a musician, he had gifts we should all be so lucky to have. Satin voice, good chops, and most importantly, incredible songwriting and lyric-writing abilities. Go back into his catalog, and tell me you con't find something you don't dig. Yeah, even you head-bangers. :P
And if you don't dig the acoustic style, just browse his lyrics(http://www.danfogelberg.com/lyrics.html). What a story teller. RIP Dan, you were one of the great ones...

  • +1 on this. Dan Fogelberg was one of the finest performers I ever had the privilege of seeing. Superb songwriting. Phoenix remains one of my favorites, and it's rather fun to play on guitar as well. I remember seeing him at a solo acoustic concert in Arizona. It was actually a political fundraiser, but Dan was the headline peformer. He did the instrumental thing from Twin Sons of Different Mothers, while playing his part and scat-singing Tim Weisberg's flute part. He was a fabulous talent that leaves behind a wonderful body of work for us all to enjoy.
  • His dad was the band leader at Peoria, Ill. high school (about 70 miles from me) My wifes brother went to school with Dan there. He was an awesome talent.
