Need help with Sonar on Vista
Hi all.
I upgraded my old laptop to a machine that is faster 1.8 duo core processor and supposedly has 2gig of ram... Yet my P.C. (Toshiba laptop with Vista) is slower and less friendly 'in general' to my audio recording through GNX3000 - USB than my 'even worse' old machine ??
I must have missed something...??? ... 2 gig of ram and upped the processor..yet worse performance ????
I have tried minimizing bitrates and buffer sizes and latency settings etc. but my machine still actually SLOWS DOWN !!! during recording ??
I set up a track that played fine on the old machine, and i can't get more than 45 seconds through the song before the tempo slows down and hissing and clicking and stuttering occurs ???
I have the bitrate set to 16 and the audio sample rate set to 44.1 and the machine just keeps slowing down ??
Any Sonar users \"WITH VISTA\" had that problem ???? or is that just an OXYMORON ... GEE I HATE VISTA !!!
Cheers.

Good luck.

Just to make sure, you understand that you should not have any other programs running when recording, except what is necessary for recording
Shut down all messengers and any task tray applications running. Any kind of visual simulations, themes, 3D flip, and all that other nonsense are going to take away from the CPU time.
I'll try the forum. And thanks for the tip about the buffer size etc.
I am amazed at how much crap is running in the background on Vista. There must be close to 20 .exe 's running ... I always switch them off ... eventually i'll work out how to disable them.
cheers guys.
P.s. I actually did get the recording to work last night ... so now i'll try and increase the sample rate etc.
