Please Please Please Drive Safely This Christmas Season....
Hey All,
I've got some really terrible news. While I was at the VH concert Friday, a good friend of my wifes, and her 16 month old baby boy were killed, along with three others including two little girls. They were stopped at red light when a loaded cement truck rammed into them at highway speed killing them all instantly.

It looks like the driver of truck had been drinking, as there are reports of him driving erratic and swerving around just before the crash, and although unhurt, he refused to provide a breath sample. Police are blaming speed and alcohol as the cause.
Tragedies like this are repeated, especially through the holidays, and they are totally avoidable. I've made some good Bud's here on the site and I implore you all to please please please drive safe and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE! I was one of those guys who always pushed it when I was young, and I thank the good Lord that I never hurt anyone (or myself). Watching the pain and suffering of the family and friends left behind when something like this happens, is absolutely heart wrenching, and worst of all it was 100% avoidable.
God Bless you this Christmas my Guit' fiddling brothers, and please TAKE CARE and DON'T DRINK AND DRIVE!!!
Peace,
Dobb.

I also am old enough to have been around when people were stupid about DnD, and took my chances way too many times, and only but for the grace of God didn't kill or hurt anyone or myself. Of course, we all know much better now.
I also know a fella who lost his whole family - wife and two adorable little dotters - to a drunk driver. It's beyond tragic.
So I join Dobb in imploring y'all to be smart and look out for others who aren't so smart. No one should haveta go through this, least of all at holiday time.
     After re-reading the article more thoroughly, I'm enraged at the driver of the truck...it sounds like he was absolutely wasted. I hope he fries - no, actually I hope he has to spend the rest of his life living with the pain of what he's done.
And...a CEMENT TRUCK??? The guy might as well've been driving a truckload of TNT.
That's a horrible accident.
We had several events and gigs this year where we promoted the safe way home lets see ya next show. So far over 50 cab rides were on us.
Couple weeks ago a drummer from the wed band I play with occasionally drove the best man home.
If anyone sees someone in that position, call them a cab or offer to take them home. It's all for the better!
Yeah, the cops are keeping him in jail until they set bail on wednesday. My guess is that its for his own safety, there are many in town who would just assume lynch him themselves.
Ilia, thats what he got charged with, 5 counts of DDCD, and one count of \"failing to provide a breath sample\" which carries the same penalties as impaired driving in Alberta.
My wife is so broken up about it, she got physically ill and couldn't finish reading the article.
I second what G3456 said, if you see someone in that kind of shape, help 'em out...by preventing them from driving.
Peace,
Dobb.
my condolences.
And good on ya G3456 for promoting such a good thing
PEACE
Whats the saying here in Oz - 'If you drink and drive, you're a bloody idiot!'.....so true.
