shredd works the bone
I'm proud to say I've successfully created a bone saddle for my Dean Exotica QSE (acoustic).
Back story: I got this git'r for FREE  from a guy who hated it - partly 'cuz it's this odd purple color, but also 'cuz it played funny. After thorough examination I figured out the nut had been improperly cut, and the strings were (very) unevenly spaced. I cut a few new string slots to place them properly and it played much better.
But it still was a cheap plastic saddle in a really nice git'r. So I acquired a bone saddle blank of the proper size, and sat on it for a year, unsure I had the luthier skills or tools to properly cut the thing.
So yesterday I did it; used the old saddle for a template to ensure I got the right shape, curvature, saddle compensation, etc...
And it came out GREAT! I'm so proud. 8)

As far as equipment barn-jobbing - I once wrapped paper around a tuning peg 'cuz the hole was too big for it.
