POD sound better for metal?

OK...I have owned my GNX3K for a while...great little box for most things...but I keep listening to the POD XTL or POD XT stuff and I don't know if there are just that many more people using it or what...but overall I hear much better finalized music with that tool for some reason? Mostly...high gain or mid gain metal tunes...

Anyone have any clips that can show me the error of my ways?

Thanks

  • Some of the patches that the GNX3/GNX4 comes with are not that great. However, I have a CD that one of the GNX4 users created with tons of patches and some of the high gain ones are remarkable. I use the 'Chevelle' one quite often. But there are plenty on the CD. I can't recall what the CD is called. It also contains additional amps to help with making your own patches.

I have always considered POD's hardware to be very mediocre. However, like the GNX series, you can create your own patches and those are probably the ones you hear (the custom ones).

    Good luck.

If you are referring to the MFXSupermodel CD...I have that...and they are great.

But....I guess what I am getting at is....I have not heard any really good polished metal tunes GNX stuff...can point me to someone who has them?

    Thanks
  • For hi gain stuff thats polished and performed well I look to GNX jammer He's an older forum member who posted alot back in the day with his GNX3. I think he sounds as good as anybody useing anything in my book.

you can find alot of great tones by searching throught the older stuff on the digitech websight.
    IMHO.

I have owned a Pod XTL. Nice Pedal. But theres nothin on it that you cant reasonbly get with a Digitech product of your choice either. I use a combination of diffrent brands this year...I think it sometimes boils down tto whats inspiring you at some point.
for me most reasonabley priced digtal modelers (299.00- 500.00) can sound great with the right tweeking just depends on what kind of interface you wanna spend your time tweekin on. IMHO.
