next floor processor
When is the next floor processor coming out that will replace or fix the latency problem with the gnx3000? i've been waiting long enough!!!!!!!!
Come on digitech , announce something new !!!!!!!

One of the latest is the new LM4562 op amp that will outperform any of the 4580's in the GNX, or on a mixer, or sound card. Each chip is 10x the avg cost of it's 20 yr old (but stable) 4580. The new chip has an incredible noise floor but since it's made for any of these floor procesors, mixers, preamps, effects boards and racks, multitrack recorders, sound cards and hi fi equipment obviously demand is high.
This is just one instance. There are 19 of those buggers in a GNX4. That's over $100 just for those newer grade op amps. Do they work better??? They sure do. Particularly getting the cleanest guitar input signal for the digital stage of processing. There are also better converter IC's but again, these new and better components mean much higher production costs.
Compare a typical sound card like an EMU to an RME. The reason an RME board is so expensive is the higher quality parts and much much improved signal processing of those parts.
Next is the processors. Faster processors are needed in minimizing latency, cleaning up digital aliasing ( buzz, fizz and blanket sound).
To do this requires better components.
Digitech could repackage its gear each NAMM if they wanted to. It has never been their stytle or Lexicon's for that matter. New products for the OOOHH experience would require the improved production parts. Those are at a premium. After w while, the supply will meet demands and the next generation of actual improvements can be readied.
To use the better parts say just the op amps and new convertor would add about $300 to any of the GNX lines as is.
