Warning to the newbies!!!

It is I, shredd, ageless rocker, git'rist extraordinaire, closeted rock star and incorrigable groupie-groper...

Here to remind y'all how easy it is to screw things up with a unit as complex as a GNX. (I have the '4).

I was re-doing my little home studio in order to replace my little Berhinger mixer with the one I'd upgraded to. Naturally, lots of gear and cables lying around, labeled with tape, while I put everything back the way it was with my new mixer.

So when I get done, I start playing stuff to test drive the new setup, and I find that my 1/4\" outs sound totally different from my XLR outs...I'm freaking out 'cuz I'm sure I have a bad pre on my XLR inputs on my new mixer, or whatever. I start \"troubleshooting\", and I went through about an hour of this before I noticed that in the shuffling of equipment I'd hit the speaker comp'n button on my 1/4\" out (turning it off), and the two outputs didn't sound anything like each other.

Boy did I feel dumb. Good thing 'blooz or Iliace or half the other guys here weren't with me to tell me how stupid I am (unless they failed to nail it down first...)
