amp hum

hey all, I've developed an excessive hum out of my amp, and traced it to the XLR cable connecting my GNX 3000 to my hard disk recorder (a Zoom MRS 802B) ...it hums whether or not the Zoom is on, but does get worse when it's on. Plugging into alternate AC source does not help. I'm just assuming this is the actual source of the problem, because the hum stops when I disconnect the Zoom from the GNX. Tried alternate cables and other troubleshooting.

I get a smaller amount of extra hum from a nearby laptop whether or not it's connected to anything, the Amp is an Atomic 112-50, and this amp seems more sensitive to this kind of noise than my previous solid state amp. I don't have any ground switches to throw on any of this equipment.

I don't know if this is the kind of problem you address trough one of those expensive AC conditioning units, but sure would like to fix it without spending big $'s. If you have any thoughts, thanks for thinking them... I'd appreciate any replies :)
