Don't let it seem like Digitech is behind... Pod if finally putting patches, connections and various outputs and inputs that Digitech ALREADY had on the GNX4 and GNX3000. So really it's POD playing the catch up game not digitech... Examples are..

GNX3000 or 4 you would get Bass Sims, Acoustic Sims, Balanced XLR outs, drum machine, Mic input with built in preamp, all of which the POD did not give, and not to mention the old XTL in order to get all the patches you had to pay another $100 for 2 more sets of patches....

For now, the new RP series is the current floor unit. It does majority of the stuff GSP1101 can handle, on the floor, and simpler.

Whether they come out with anything in the future, is anybody's guess.
