Finally used it live and...
Ok fellers,
I used my atomic and my GNX4 in church today 8) . To be totally honest it was the first time I played in church (or in front of more than 10 people for that matter) in a few moons.
I ran the xlrs to the board, and used the atomic as a monitor. I was pretty conservative with my patches, I mostly used a Roland JC-120 patch, and a '67 silvertone patch as well. I pretty much stuck with my DeArmond S-73 12 string. It was funny because everyone asked me to turn up my amp rather than turn me up in their monitors. I was really happy with how the atomic sounded, I barely turned it to half, and it was pushin' lots of air too.
Because it was my first time in a while, and I was basically sight reading most of the music, I was a little scared to mess with the gnx too much, but in the future, I definately want to be more flexible. All I did was save my patches consecutively, and I just adjusted my output levels by ear.
I keep all of my patches on my laptop, and I'm lazy 'cuz I always use xedit, but I realize I gotta stop doing that because I forgot how to do anything on the console. Anyway, I was wondering what mode most guys use live? I'm trying to figure out the best way to lay out my patches.

As far as patches go - I'd set up a CF with patches matching your set list, so you can just go from one to the next.
Then again, my techniques are questionable, since they haven't scored me gigs, groupies, or Cameron's phone #... :?
I dont usually worry about tone live, because it is easy to make a career out of it. As long as I can be heard thats good enough for me. Perhaps when I eventually get gigs where I can have all the time in the world to set up...
I also use stompbox mode and do a lot of \"footwork\" with the pedal. There have been times where a terrible few things has happened:
Singers mic cable turning the data wheel, thus changing to \"riffmatic\"
Playing in the sun, and not noticing that the wah was on the whole last song
I'm sure there are more
But basically the things I have learnt in order to use the GNX4 successfully live are:
Always make sure the cables that are plugged into the unit are secure, tuck them underneath the unit.
Make sure you know what patch you are on, ie make sure you can see it when it matters
Never put the wah on by default
Make sure no objects can get near the unit
Order the patches as the setlist
Place the unit as far forward as possible, so if you do have to change patch and you are out the front of the stage, entertaining the crowd, you dont have to walk all the way back to change.
I also play at my Church....the Church of Tequila, Bourbon, Brews and chicks flashing they're TA Ta's....
I gotta hand it to ya, at least your commited
   Ta Ta's   .
Maybe you could let Shreddy play with you guys for a while, he could really use a pair

P.S. Thanks guys.
Cobalt...you crack me up
Hey, that's no joke...we had one staggering moron fall into the floor monitor inches away from my GNX4!...he took a chunk of wood out of the corner of it too
\" ...stage dives or hastily thrown bras\"
I'm willing to take my chances, tough job, but someone has to do it
