An Idea

I was watching some String Cheese Incident videos on youtube, and I saw that one of their band members plays a five string mandolin. Some of you know that I'm rebuilding a guitar, and I was thinking maybe I could convert it to a five string mandolin after a few modifications. but I don't know if I should just rebuild it as another guitar or try to mod it to the mandolin, if you want to see it search \"String Cheese Austin\" on youtube and it should be the first video.

  • What did you do? Screw up that sweet LTD F-50 so bad, it'll never be a guitar again? ...just kidding. :?

In my opinion, if you want a Mandolin, buy one. You'll have to alter the neck and body way too much.

I did like that Mandolin, that guy on String Cheese Incident was playing. Never saw one like that before. I searched Mandolins, since you brought this up, and never realized there were so many different kinds.

The only Mandolin that ever excited me was in \"The Battle of Evermore\" by Led Zeppelin. :? :)

Where are you at right now with your guitar rebuild? I thought your original plans were pretty cool.
But if you decide to go crazy, and make some custom Mando-something, all the power to you.

    Do you think if I made a 2-string Mandolin...I could call it a Manitou? :D :?

  • Well, I have all the paint off and all I need to do now is find a satin varnish like a lot of the martin acoustics have.
  • I found this mini-LP style 5-string mandolin looking around today.
