New Guitarist Talent To Watch

It's nice to see some new talented guitarists, and some are very exceptional.
We all have our old favorites, but who is catching your eye today?
Someone new and not necessarily well known...YET!
Thanks to YouTube...we all must have some favorites.

My favorite male guitarist is Matt Rach. I don't know if that is his real name.
I like his attitude and style of music.

My favorite female guitarist is Desiree' Bassett.
She plays Satriani and does a great job. She is so young, she hasn't found her own musical voice yet...(I don't think)

Both are very young...but talented enough, I believe you will see them on the Big Stages.

  • Good eye 'tou...both of these kids were great, better git'rists than I am now.
I have a theory though - is there in existance some fat ugly teenage girl who shredds like that, and if there were, would anyone take a video of her??
  • Wow, that Matt is pretty darn good. Watched a few things from him. He seems like the real deal. Could be very good if he keeps it up.
  • Matt is like 16, and says he's been playing for 9 years. I noticed he is selling his music online now. I'll no doubt add some of his stuff to my iPod favorites.

I've heard more people are doing these Independent labels, and are making more money this way, than you'd expect. Matt has the talent to go a long way, and I bet he is already making more money than I'd care to guess.

I see quite a few young players with exceptional talent. The coming years should be musically exciting, as we see more of these people hit the mainstream.

    I credit \"imschurEvil\" over on the \"guitarlogic.org\" (AlbertA's site)
for turning me on to Desiree' Bassett. For a 13 year old she is doing pretty well. She is playing with her Dad. Ya gotta love that! In a few more years, I think she too will really stand out, and if nothing else, when you watch that young lady Shred...she is always having a great time with it.
  • ...now this is freaky.
This kid has me down perfect...right to the facial expressions and final sigh.

BTW...that is an early Paul Gilbert technique.
    All upstrokes.
  •:lol: I need lessons from that guy. I already have the frustrated sigh down... :?
  • When these people stop playing covers and see if they can compose somthing rather than shredding all the time (already been done - Batio) is when they will be accepted. You can get over a thousand such \"freaks\" on youtube - there are a lot of shredders out there these days, including myself - its just about working on technique. It gets to a point where it is now expected that one can shred in metal bands and it now no longer excites anyone.
  • I agree with you Hootman. Matt is doing what you suggested. You may have just selected one of his covers out of the 26 videos he has posted.

Desiree' has a long way to go, but I think she will get there. She is doing her own stuff too, but when she does, you are quickly reminded she is just 13. It gets harder to find a female shredder who you feel has the talent to make it.

Does anyone else have a favorite new guitarist they like?
New talent to watch, not necessarily young?
    Not necessarily YouTube?

There are going to be plenty of new faces coming to the Mainstream. I hope we see more Shredders. Even the worst Shredder on the Planet trumps the Best Rapper. IMHO :D :? 8)
