EQ...IQ...........mutter, grumble

I preset at a lower frequency, (below the 12th fret)...and it will sound lousy at higher frequencies.

Is there an EQ that comes as part of an amp model and a separate parametric EQ?

Do I need to shut off the EQ? Am I using two different EQs at the same time?

  • If your eq is screwing your sound up, turn it off or set it more nuetrally. I'd suggest toning down the shift amount, and diddle the center freq'y til you like what you hear.
  • Thanks, I'll spend some time with that.
I respect you guys who are able to make these killer presets.

I think where I am having trouble also, is with trying to accomplish too much with my presets.
I guess it is dawning on me, I need to separate rhythm from lead.
If I fatten up tone at the top, it gets muddy down below, and its more a
    gain/compression problem.

I need to figure this thing out...and I'm tired of letting it make me feel old and all analog-ish
....and if I can ride this horse...maybe I'll tackle recording next, and get past the
\"tip of the day\"...on ProTracks.  :?

(mutter...mutter...shoulda took up golf...I knew it was something that started with a \"G\")

Making presets is not the big deal it sounds like. It just takes away from playing time. :? Once you've gotten a grip on XEdit, you can really dial in your sound.
Another good idea is to add variables to your patches so that if the \"lead\" tone is in the same neighborhood as the \"rythm\" sound, you can just add a variable like a stompbox and assign it wherever you want, so that when it comes time to solo, you can just punch a footswitch or use your expr'n pedal, rather than have to jump to another patch.

If you're feeling old and analog-ish, sit down with the manual, it's not as useless as some suggest. Or else get Anderton's book; he's got a good way of explaining stuff to us maroons.

Trust, me, you can do it, 'tou. I'm almost  as old as you, I just lucked out and inherited the tech weenie gene. Or something like that. Besides, it's either learn this stuff or take up something as inane as golf. ANOTHER expensive hobby. :?
