Oh, MAN, that had to hurt.
OK, here's the thing: that \"ball\" in the center of the speaker is just a dust cover for the voice coil. If it's pushed in but DIDN'T reach the actual voice coil, it'll work fine, though it may sound a bit different. Plug it in, and try it at VERY low volume. If the speaker IS toasted, you can't damage it any worse. You might even be able to \"pull\" it out, using one of the many imaginative methods available to us ingenious American-types.
I'm sure it can be repaired, but not necessarily a \"home\" job. You may haveta send it in to Behringer, but it'd probably still cost less than replacing the whole unit, considering it has amps in it, even if the speaker has to be replaced. But it might just need that dust cap \"pulled out\" or replaced. And of course, warranty coverage will take the pain out of it... The website would have tech support/repair info and contacts... http://www.behringer.com/05_support/service-usa.cfm?lang=eng
Good luck!
I've had them pushed in on other speakers (car stereo) and it doesn't hurt them.
This has been my fear with these active monitors. They are in a matched set. You pretty much have yourself needing to buy another set...if you screw one up...let alone...any warranty work...the shipping costs will kill you....if you don't have an authorized dealer/repair nearby....like me.
I've wished they came with grills to help protect them. I wonder why they don't have something there? Genius Marketing? Sell more without protection?
I feel \"lucky\" I haven't messed mine up yet. I just moved them this morning...and while I was doing that...
I reminded myself to not pull a \"shredd poking technique.\"
I would NOT be willing to make the repairs either...
I'd more likely kick the rest of the speaker out, and throw the carcass across the street.
They dont have a grill because grills ruin the transparency of the sound.
Smart kid!!!
But apparently not smart enough to convince some Aussie cutie to come to the Rockies and be my playmate :P ...c'mon, doesn't that sound great?!?
I guarantee you, if you came to Australia, you could quite easily hook yourself a catch. Many sheilas would love to be swept off their feet by a tall, RUSH loving, all-american bloke like yourself

Well, I know where MY next vacation's gonna be to!!!
I've successfully used a plunger to pop out a cap many times.
I have 15\" Blue Marvel Peavey bass speaker with a pushed in cap that has been pulled out ... if anyone needs it let me know .. model # : TNT 1556-MI
4 Ohms
Oh Sure. I s'pose they have 300 watt 4-ohm resistors sitting on the shelf at 7-11 down there???
Sure do Alternatively you could find yourself a real long length of wire and coil it up, and measure the resistance with your multimeter, cutting it when you reach 4 ohms.

OK, McGyver.
PS Do they really have 7-11's down there? That's morbid!!!
We have: 7-11s, McDonalds, Burger King, Starbucks, and even Australian Idol. They have 7-11s in Thailand too.
Ugh. All American companies. No wonder everyone hates us so much.
And why I can't get the eye of any of those Aussie cuties...are there ANY cute ones that don't hate Yanks?? 8)

I was so jazzed when I saw these, I first thought Behringer wised up, and listened to emails for grills. I started to look for these myself, and found out these are a custom made set of grills. There are active monitors sold with grills, but so far I'm not finding any for the B2031A.
Those grlls are sweet. Greg p has a pushed in dust cover too...(the cleaning ladys brought her kids over while he was out of the house and her little boy trashed it. I have a 3 yr old...I am ordering those covers.
they are ugly but nessesarry.
ok where did you get them and what are they called?
P.s. why are there so may Crappy drummers in the world....we have auditoned 3 so far...older guys too...(30-50) you would think by that age they would either know how to keep a groove or know when not to B.S. about there playing level.....it was so painful yesterday that my gutarist finally had to just stop and say \"he\" was just not grooven today so the guy would leave....ahhhhh thats time in my life I'll never get back!!
I edited my enthusiastic find for Behringer grills. I emailed the guy that did these to find out if he intends to sell grills. Those are acrylic, and an easy retrofit...which would make a good ad-on grill. They fit in the original speaker mounting holes.
I don't know about modifying the transparency of the sound as hootman suggested. Or if some wire mesh is better for a grill. Maybe if the grills were easy to put on and remove when you don't want them is a smarter idea.
I bet there is a good market for the right grill combination.
I have had ideas in my head, in the past, that I have later seen end up on the market. Mostly concerning hand tools, as I spent 30 years working in Construction.
Sometimes a simple idea, or a simple upgrade to an idea, can make you some dough. I once built a multi-million dollar home for a guy on top of Mt. Tiberon overlooking San Francisco. The guy (Arneson) invented \"The Pool Sweep.\"
I'll report back on grills, when I find out more.
....anyway...please forgive me...that was an awful TEASE!
Now, I think the best solution is to have them \"bare\" when in use, then for moving, have some kind of solid, but non-scratching cover to wrap them in to avoid damage while in transport. Then again, I saved my boxes.
For youse guyz with little kids poking their fingers, toys, etc into your speakers - may I suggest using duct tape on them, massive doses of Valium (for them), or perhaps hiring Rosie O'Donnell to be your nanny.
You dont need a grill on the tweeter as it already has one. This is also the most prone to problems with grills - listen to music and wave your hand in front of the tweeter - you can hear the change in high freqs. A grill would change this permanently. As for the woofer - a mesh grill would be nicer for the sound i would imagine.
Also, when you do install those, if you take off the screws in those holes the speakers will fall off/out! So do them one by one...
My 2031a's have no grills at all. I leave them bare, too get an unobstructed sound. If I ever had to move them, I'd move them packed in their boxes, which I kept. If I had a kid that punched a cone with his Barney doll, I'd make soup.

Too clever.
