Save me! From Myself! Please!!! 8^0
OK, here's my problem.
All you guys who are really great players or are really loaded or just ike collecting git'rs...BITE ME.

Here's my problem: I'm not a particularly stellar player, I don't have a lot of space, and I have a hard time (despite my G/A/S) committing a lot of money to a big git'r collection. SO...for a long time I've had just one git'r. First it was my Franken-strat, then my Jackson Performer. Both pretty decent git'rs.
Then I laid my hands on a brand new Ibanez RG3 EX1, those hard-tail Indonesian jobs. Pretty nice git'r, overall.
So here's my problem. They have different sounds - the Jackson is my sweet-sounding, S-S-H, all-around git'r...does pretty much everything well. The Ibanez has EMG's, a much more \"electric\" sounding git'r.
So...HOW in the HEII do I decide which one to keep?!? They both play nice, have 24 fret rosewood fingerboards, and stay in tune pretty nice (the Jax actually stays in tune better with a locked-down F/Rose than the hardtail 'binez does!). They're both pretty, weigh about the same, comparable quality.
Please don't say both...help my choose!!! :? Any and all opinions welcome!

I have similar guitars, so I know what you are saying about each.
I know you don't like floating bridges.
That Ibanez has a mahogany body with a fixed bridge, two qualities for sweet sound and sustain.
Too bad about the EMG's...maybe a pair of DiMarzios will come your way.
Keep the Ibanez. No question, your better choice, especially for you.
I too vote for the Jackson. I have also decided to find \"the one\" (or two) and get rid of the ones that don't get played. Like a typical junkie, I have more guitars than I had when I started to \"thin out\" my collection. Here is my new girlfriend, courtesy of the Peavey custom shop 8) .
I loved the feel and neck of my flat top, but it is VERY bright, and requires some eq. The carved top is just a superior sounding (and playing) instrument.
Up for Sale,
DeArmond S-73.
Matching DeArmond S-73-12 string.
Peavey HP Special Flat top
Fender Mexi caster w/vintage trem blok, and graph tech everything.
Fender Stratacoustic
I already told my wife...the Wolfgang stays!!!!!!!
I will give all my local buddies first dibs, they'll all be posted on ebay next week.
Sorry for the hijack Shreddy...forgive me.
Peace,
Dobb.
I used to have one guitar for over 10 years. It's a Charvel Model 4 with EMGs and a Floyd Rose. I love that guitar. Then I realized what a major pain it was when a string popped during a gig. So, I got a cheap Strat to play while someone else did a string change. That worked perfectly for me for a decade.
Then came requests for songs that required different tunings. As you know detuning a Floyd is ridiculous. So, I also needed a hard tail piece.....
I now have 7 guitars. All have their place in the arsenal. I would try my best to keep every single guitar. You will definitely use it one day. I find myself still going back to the Charvel. Climate changes, weather, temp, all have a bearing on your sound. The more you have, the better chance that you will find a guitar that sounds great in any condition/situation.
Bear in mind I reallllly don't have any interest in tremelo; I do like the locking nut and fine tuners, but I've always locked my trems.
I do like the different sounds...the EMG's on the 'binez (they're actually passive) sound very electric and edgy, compared to the warmer HB and Ibanez S1 S/C's that're on the Jax.
Thing is - I honestly don't play enough - or well enough - or OUT enough - to warrant a substantial git'r collection. That's why I've pretty much stuck w/one ax at a time for many years now.
Then again, I'd trade ALL my instruments - and my next date with Jenn - for that juicy Peavey Dobb has. I played one in DEN recently and it was FINE. Interested?
So...keep the comments coming...and thanks!
If you can get me and Ms Aniston in the same room (preferably naked...well at least her) I will even throw in an extra set of strings and a polishing cloth :P
Love the colour of the HP Special Dobb! Is that why it is custom shop?
What colour exactly is that? I think I want one.
So whattya think about my 1-ax dilemma? Got an opinion??
Yep, custom shop for the \"dark cherryburst\" color. This was a production color for the Wolfgangs, and for the first run of HP Specials as well. My guess is, that it is not the easiest burst to create, because Peavey stopped producing that color of production guitars just months after the release of the HP Special.
There was also a pretty significant price increase at the custom shop as well earlier this year. I'm glad I got mine before the price hike, you should see the prices now
From the peavey custom shop:
HP Special CT Custom Shop base price: $2199.00
Flamed Maple Top: $450.00
( It's...Gulp...$900.00 extra for a quilt top  )
Custom Color: $150.00
Black Burst: $100.00
Grand Total is $2899.99usd for this guitar after the Peavey price increase. Almost $1000.00 more than I paid for mine.
If you keep your eyes out for them, I have seen a few dark cherries around. In fact, there is a production model on ebay right now. If your not too picky about the lack of birdseye in the neck, this is as cheap as you will get this fiddle new, thats for sure!! Anyway here it is

Peace,
Dobb.
I understand what your saying, by no means am I endorsing this guy. Ebay can be a slippery slope, you really have to read between the lines of every item, it's often what they don't say that matters. That being said, I have almost 50 ebay tx's, and was only once decieved by a drop shipper who sold me a bass pedal 2 days after he bought it, and when he recieved it weeks later, it was fubar. He had listed it as all working and in perfect condition before he'd ever even seen it!
Whats even funnier is that he negged the guy he bought it from and said right in the feedback that it was broken, while at the same time he was telling me it was working 100%. He lied to me about his circumstances and stalled for weeks on end. That is until I traced his history, figured it all out, and reported him to ebay.
He was really pissed at me, ebay froze the money in his paypal account until he refunded me, then they suspended his account for 14 days as punishment. Shortly after, he simply abandoned his ebay ID and started again with a different name.
Short from ordering directly from Peavey, I have nothing but good things to say about Geoff Knapp and his site www.rocknrollweekend.com
I have bought two guitars from him, and he gave me great advice that was crucial in helping me find the best Wolfgang for my money.
Outside of the Peavey Luthiers, this guy has had more Wolfgangs and HP specials in his hands than anyone, anywhere. I don't work for Geoff, nor did I stay at a holiday inn express last night. He's just a really cool rich dude who loves peavey guitars.
Post 200 here I come baby!!!!
Dobb.
Yeah, I missed the boat on the custom shop.
I looked into a Trans Black with burst. I just won't spend $3000.00 cdn on a guitar.
Mike C., who was as staple here for a long time was one of the people who raved about the quality of their guitars.
Check them out here: http://www.rondomusic.net/electricguitar-ss10.html
You may be able to have your cake and eat it too!!!.
So I backed the neck pup into the body a bit, and brought up the low E end of the bridge pup a bit. Suddenly the sound is much more balanced; between low n highs, between the two pups, and in terms of how overdriven the pups sound. If I could, I'd back the pups down even farther, but I'd need longer and stronger springs for the pup surrounds.
But it sounds pretty dam good. I've played my Jax'n for a long time, I love it, but the 'binez is givin' it a run for the money. It's pretty too, which helps, since I can't find any pretty WOMEN to play with. :x
Hm. I wonder if I'm on the brink of losing my one-git'r status, and am becoming a git'r collecting fool like you other guys. Sigh...at least I don't have a wife to justify it to...(\"but honey...I only bought a boat so I can catch us fish to eat..\"
I've decided - for the time being - that since I love my Jackson and wouldn't part with it for anything but a better git'r - and since the 'binez isn't better enough to replace the Jax, but is still fun to play, sounds kewl, is different enough that there's no \"gitr redundancy\", and it's pretty to boot, that i'm keeping both.
Sooooo. I now have four stringed instruments, plus my drum machine and Roland, all darkening my studio. My would-be wife would be VERy jealous!
