IT'S GOOD TO BE BACK!!!
Hi dudes,
Shando here back after a lengthy absence, 6 months in Bosnia then more hard work! Anyway, It will take me another 6 months to catch up with all the posts and chat I've missed. Now we've dispensed with the polite formalities onto my first drama. My favourite guitar was recently damaged (kid knocked it off the stand and the neck snapped). Sooo, I bought another, different model (PRS 'Style' guitar) and took the Seymour D's from my broken guitar and put them into the new one. Now, the problem is that in my old guitar (LP 'Style' guitar 2 x volume, 2 x tone & 3 way switch) they rocked with tons of volume and a great tone. Now that the pickups are in my new guitar (1 x volume, 1 x tone & 3 way switch) they still sound good but a lot weaker. How can I rectify this? Any suggestions/help will be greatly appreciated.

First...does your wiring look anything like this?
Humbucker wiring
The LP style guitar is probably different tonewood in both the neck and body so there will be some changes in your tone. I had my singer knock my Alp White Custom LP off a 4' stage and split the neck and headstock several yrs ago. Had it repaired (neck replacement) but just won't play clubs with gear like that again.
I replaced it with a PRS Santana SE and found even with a pickup replacement, the punch I needed was hard to compare to the Custom. I then found a LP Studio for cheap and it's as chunky as I prefer. Not quite as good as the Custom, but had the heavier sound.
Pickup adj can be a stickler. There are a few ways I like mine. Usually the closer you get to the strings the more output, but this is NOT always true. Sometimes too close starts to create lack of definition so each guitar is going to have a range and a sweetspot. I like to angle my pickups closer on the bass side for the bridge and closer to the treble on the neck. That way for leads and heavy ryth I get that chunk and for cleans using the neck pickup it doesn't get too bass happy. Using 52's on the lo E on some guitars for modern stuff can also change where you want the adjustments.
I find the string guage can really make a difference. For the lower tuned songs I go 52's EB Bottom heavy light top, and for others standard 9's.
See if Lured can chime in since he is guitar svc guy!

To now.

I'm wondering if it's possible his problem is treble bleed.
If that is the case, he could take one 1000pF/220K capacitor and a resistor,
(twist the leads together) which are wired in parallel across two of the lugs
on the volume pot in order to prevent treble loss as the volume control is rolled down.

Hey it's great to hear from you all again, it's kinda like a 'coming home' feeling!
Thanks for all the immediate input. The wiring is now like this:

The guitar is different wood it's a poplar body with a flame maple top and a maple set neck with rosewood fingerboard. The thing is, it still sounds good, just not as good as the LP. I know it can sound better, I just don't know how to do it
Again, thanks dudes.
