Building a pedalboard

Hey, i'm building a pedalboard. The wood construction is done. its time to cover it with tolex. That is where my question comes in. Should i cover the whole thing in tolex and then add velcro to the spots where i'm putting my pedals, or put the velcro on the actual wood and then put tolex around it?

So basically, i want to know if the fuzzy part of the velcro will stick to the wood or tolex better.

Thanks

  • It's very hard to get anything glued to stick well to Tolex, unless you've got some pretty hard-core glue. I'd glue to the wood.
You also oughtta consider gluing your velcro in a manner that will allow you to move your pedals, since it's unlikely your setup or desired arrangement would NEVER change. Ya know, like in strips or grids or something. No one is going to even CARE what the inside looks like; the Tolex is basically for looks and protection on the outside of the case. As long as you SOUND good, it don't matter how ugly the inside of your pedalboard is. Chix dig that.

And of course, the MOST important step is to hook me up with the hottest single woman you know. 8)
  • yea, i am going to put it in strips. I was just wondering whether it should be on the wood or velcro, and now i have my answer thanks to you!
