O.K. John I see what your doing there. It all seems to fit in with Kirks piece. Nicely felt I could feel that the Vocals & words were from the heart 8) Only thing is this did you add Reverb to this? Seems like an Awfull large amount of Reverb for my taste. At times everything just seems so far back like it's actually far away. Maybe that is what you were shooting for & heard in you head for this? Anyhow neat Idea John Kirk's pieces are always Top stuff eh??
I have to agree with Partch on the amount of reverb used. The voice did not sound bad at all. If the original music track was dry (meaning no effects on it) I think you should try to record again and maybe just put a little reverb on your vocal track. Without having heard the original music track I am just guessing what maybe can be done. The vocal was nice and strong and was not going flat at any point I could hear. That to me is a big part of a good vocal track. kEEP IT UP!
P.S. Mics scare me. LOL
WOW! I thank you guys for the reply. I'm not a great singer and to my self I don't think I sound very good, but that's what a lot of people say about themselves. All I can do is try to give it my best.
As for Kirks music it is awesome always for sure. This particular piece inspired me to write the words and I wanted to sing it, so I did good or bad. At least I admit I not a great singer, but it was from the heart.
As for reverb, yes I used maybe more than I should, but at least you didn't have to hear the singing before hand. HA! I will have to redo the song as you suggested and add the reverb only to the vocals. I added the reverb to the who mix and that was a mestake on my part. I also sang the song using 3 mics to see if that would give more depth to my shallow voice, I'm a tenor , so the wife tells me.
I guess for the most part because I love the Lord I just wanted to share this song, so I won't say I'm sorry for that. I do hope though I didn't offend anyone by sharing this song. Most of all you Kirk if you have listened to it yet.
I hope I'm making some sense. I'm not as good as alot of people in here but I give this music of mine alot of my time every week and learning the software seems for me the hardest. I have always played acoustic mostly and maybe thats where I should keep my gifts.
Again, thanks for the comments and I'll keep working on this song till I can get it right. You have been very helpful and I'm humbled. Thanks!
Hey John do you have plugins for your Recording software? You can always clone Vocals use double tracks Pan them a little left & right. You can also add Comppression, & EQ your vocals to help them fatten up & have more presence. I don't know about using 3 mics? Never tried that before.
When I used the 3 mics, that was the idea to give it an automatic pan to start out with. I am presently working on adding some compression and other fixes to see how that comes out. The wave file sounds awesome , but when I upload the songs don't seem to have the right sound. I was in fact trying to give the song kind of a LIVE tone to the mix, not that I play live but am trying out some of this software I have to see what I am capa ble of doing. So far not the greatest job in the world, that for sure. If anyone else has any recomendations, besides Stop Singing, I would appreciate it.
I have remixed the song and it sounds a lot better. I had to adjust the reverd down, adjust the dynamics, added ing a knee on the vocals and up the gain alittle on the instrumentals so that the vocals blend more into the whole mix and finishe it off with some tube efx on the vocals only. An overall much better mix and sound. Thanks for all the suggestions for those who responded. Will load onto myspace for your review. Thanks again for the helpful suggestions.
