Here's our song list for Saturday 28 April
Myself and four co-workers have put together a 9-song set for our company picnic this Saturday in Dallas.
1. EBQ (original instrumental by Austin Colden)
2. Turn the Page (Bob Seger)
3. Free Fallin (Tom Petty)
4. Drift Away (Can't remember his name)
5 Aint No Sunshine (Bill Withers)
6 Jambalya (Hank Williams)
7 Can't Always Get What You Want (Rolling Stones)
8 Sunshine of Your Love (Cream)
9 Crossroads (Cream/Robert Johnson)
We had a good rehearsal last Saturday and really nailed the two Cream songs. (Most of us remember when those songs were new) Everything sounded good.
I'll be using my GNX-3 to the PA in on my Peavey Classic VT series amp, 50 watts, two 10 inch speakers, mic'ed to the mixer
Since our company is a full service Optics design and manufacturing company we are calling ourselves the Reticles (that's the crosshair in a scope). Clever huh. Anyway we are pretty stoked about this opportunity to provide some entertainment for our co-workers. I think a lot of them will be surprised.
Austin Colden-Lead Guitar
Mike Bledsoe- Guitar :?
Larry Abercrombie-Bass
Mark Colden-Drums and vocals 8)
Kenny Pruett- Keyboards and vocals

For those of you in the Southeast Texas area, I will be performing (same day Saturday, April 28 ) at the Great Texas Songwriters' Festival in Palacios, TX (on the coast near Port Lavaca, just about midway between Galveston and Corpus Christi.) It's a benefit for the American Cancer Society, $5 cover, goes all day from 11AM to 11PM. I'm on at 6PM. The joint is called The Outrigger.
Have a great show!!!
And you too philflood! You guys are making me jealous - I need to get back in a band bad
Phil, yep Dobie Gray is the one for this version. Rock on Saturday.
Thanks ODB and Inside. We have no intentions of taking this thing any further than the company picnic, however if some one was really astounded and waived something times 10 to the 6th power money, we might willing to play again. Anyway I hope to be abe to post some pictures after it's over. At least the digital camera is going.
Gang aft agley,
from To a Mouse by Robert Burns.
Well it has fallen through, no gig! Turns out one of us is a contract employee and all contract employees are required to be at work while the rest of us go play and have fun. That sucks IMHO. However I completely understand the other person's position, he has a family to take care of. And a longtime co-worker rather unexpectedly passed away Thursday, so that really put a damper on our spirits too.
So thanks to all for their good wishes, we will try again.
Peace
I really liked your set list. I think I have played almost all those songs at one time or another. I have a cousin-in-law that just nails \"Drift Away.\" It's a power song with the right singer. I think I would have really enjoyed your set. Too bad for everyone missing out on those classics. I hope you guys get it together for another event real soon. Best wishes.
The real bite is that I was gonna come n watch you play, and hit on all the cute optics-geniuses. It'd be fun to have a g/f smarter than me!!
Sorry to hear your gig fell through. Mine came off real well. I arrived at the venue a couple hours before I was supposed to play. It was a restaurant with an outdoor seating area and deck. Later on they set up lawn chairs in front of the stage. At any time there were from 30 to 50 people nearby, so it was a nice little crowd.
Food was great - fresh shrimp from out of the Gulf. I can highly recommend the area. If you are ever looking for a place on the water without a lot of people, check it out - Palacios, TX. No chain hotels, a few B&B's, but there are chain places available 25 miles away in Port Lavaca. Nice fishing pier for those of you into that sort of thing.
Oh yeah, I got invited back for next year's festival! Rock on all!
Phil
Gtaus, yes it just so happens he was doing about 90 % of the lead vocals. Mark can sing well enough too, and was doing some nice harmonies, but Ken was the lead singer.
ODB, yikes I hope your friend's hand is functional, that is scary.
I'll let y'all know how it works out. I'm thiking about asking pastor to let use the fellowship building with its new gym and just call it a neighbor hood outreach concert.
