1. Run the installation software that came with the GNX4?.
2. Then plug the usb cable into the GNX4 and the pc should recognize and install new hardware (little balloon window pops up in lower right of screen).
3. Once it is done and says hardware is ready to use, then you startup the x-edit software and it should recognize the GNX4.
Note: I have found that if I plug the usb cable into the laptop in a different usb port than I initially installed the software with, it doesn't work. So I have to move the plug until the x-edit software works.
The thing to remember about computers is they'll only do what you want them to when you \"ask\" them the way THEY want to do it. Then it all works fine.
It's when you don't ask nice that they act up, give you cryptic error essages, and generally misbehave.
Unfortunately, wrecking them doesn't make them behave. If it did, I'd have a mountian of wreckage in my yard. All I can say is be patient, walk away when you can't take it any more, and hope that the advice all the tech wizards here at the forum can help you out. Good luck!
Uninstall from Add/remove programs XEDIT, Digitech drivers, and PTP
Delete all files in the Digitech folder under Program Files. You should do this since the uninstall can leave behind some files.
To Install- (WIN XP Users)
Plug the GNX4 USB cable in the USB hub on the PC. Turn the GNX4 ON.
Comp will prompt \"found new hardware\". Click the balloon. This will start the hardware wizard. let it scan and prompt you to insert the Digitech disc. Now the Comp will flash a balloon \"found new Device/Digitech USB\"
Comp will start the disc and and prompt you to load the Drivers. Start with the DRIVERS install. When you reach the part that says Driver Signing click CONTINUE ANYWAY... it will install the 1/2 and 3/4 Usb drivers. Drivers signing will prompt again.. Click CONTINUE ANYWAY. Many people stop the install when they get the Drivers Signing.. ALWAYS CLICK CONTINUE ANYWAY or it will not work.
Driver install will finish and new balloon will pop up and indicate \" Device is ready to be used\".. at this point your drivers are working!
Now install XEDIT, then PRO TRACKS PLUS
reboot if it prompts you to do so.. some systems require this.
If you have done the above, and it still has driver issues contact SHANE at Digitech cust support and he can send you drivers compat with your PC specs. many of these problems are resolved once the steps are taken in ORDER. Some are very specific hardware problems that require support drivers other than the standards... depends on your PC.
Buying a new PC will delay you longer if you get VISTA.. VISTA is not yet supported among the editors.
thanks, u can call me little horse then. ur funny. jaro
So howz your install/operating problem going? I had TONS of trouble with PTP on my last puter; I put it on a different one and now it works peachy. Hm... :?:
I just dont know how long it is gonna take me to produce first decent cd. Most ideal way of learning ptp and stuff about it would b some one litterary showed me cause noob like me needs extra\" milk feed \".
Since i started learning ecconomy picking things started blend together with completaly new flavour especialy when odd times signatures employed. I am very happy about my recent progress on my guitar in many ways but technology is so frustrating.
I downloaded asio drivers to my new lptop, on my old slower pc ptp worked with it ok, no cracks in imported audio into ptp.
But i dont know how to set the asio on and set th wdm off or what to do.
even with the safest buffer size in ptp>options>audio>general wouldn solve it but how do i know that ptp is run with asio or wdm ? cant remember how i did it ages ago.
My computer isn workin peachy is flippin stubbern git. What sort of music do u play if u can classyfy it ? thanks
