Emulate a Gallien-Krueger bass amp?
Hey folks:
I'm looking to emulate a GK 2001RB bass amp using my GNX4. In a nutshell, the GK sound has distortion on the lows and lower mids, while the upper-mids and highs are clean. It's a pretty nice sound...plenty of grunt and a little wooley, without being too overpowering against other instruments.
Anyway, I'm thinking the best way to get there will be with a Hypermodel. I plan to use a Direct model and morph it with with one of the bass amp models that can deliver some distortion. I'll cut the highs on the distortion model, mix the two and that should work pretty well I'd think.
Question: Which bass model would you suggest using for the distortion channel? I need one that has a very even full-range distortion.
I can't believe that there isn't a GK bass amp model on the GNX4 nor the BNX3. That was a really popular bass amp in the 80's, and still is to a high degree today. At times like this, I wish there was a way to create your own amp and cab models!
TIA,
Dave
