I need a new Practice and Recording tool. Help a newbie out
I hope this is the right area of the forum to ask if not, I will delete it and move it if needed.
I need a new practice tool.
Zoom G7, Line 6 XLT Live, Boss GT8, Digitech GNX4 or 3000
This is my first post so sorry for the long read, but I need some guidance, feedback, and opinions.
I have read reviews on all of these at some point, but my head is swimming from information overload. It would be nice to here from users of these products.
I have an in home office that I keep a guitar and Vox VT amp in for low volume practice.
Well I did have a Vox, but it died and has been chunked out, so I am looking for something else.
Several years ago I bought a Digitech RP2000 when they first came out and it was great silent practice with headphones and learning new material via aux in from the computer. For what ever reason I sold the Digitech and replaced it with the Vox Valvetronix amp . I thought it would be great for low volume practice as well as learning new material, but it didn’t work out that way. When I had the RP I would practice (silently with headphones) a couple of hours each night with very few distractions. After I got the Vox for some reason I hardly ever used it to learn new material, I would just jam along with MP3s’ which is fun, but not very productive and quite frankly it just gets old playing the same old [!#$#@].
Since the Vox died I am going to take this as an opportunity to go back something that I can use with headphones so I stay in the zone and get back to a good practice/learning routine. There have been a lot of advancements since my old RP2000, so I thought I would run this buy you guys that have had or are using a multi effects unit.
Budget? Not that big of a deal, I just want the best value.
There are a few things that are must haves in the unit;
1; Aux in
2; Headphone jack
3; Assignable expression pedal
4; A/B Amp switching capabilities
5; USB computer interface for recording and patch editing.
6; Can programed for silent practice as well as a grab and go pedal if needed live use
Tweekablity
Edit; A good Patch Library would be a Big Plus.
If you have made it this far, thanks for taking the time to read it all.
I am looking forward to hearing about your experiences with this type of setup.

Are the sims and processing capabilities in the GNX4 as good as the sims and processor in the newer GNX3000?
I guess what I am asking is, with the newer GNX3000 now available would buying a GNX4 be a step backwards in terms of technology?
Amen I only appreciate the GNX4 more & more as time goes on not the other way around
