Another Brick In The Wall

Hey,

It's been a while since I posted a tune.

I actually recorded this around June last year, not 100% satisfied with it could do with some polish, the solo was a 1 take improv.

For this I used my Ibanez RG570 and my GNX3K

Thanks for any comments and Happy NEW YEAR 8)

p.s the vocals were on the backing track.

  • I thought it was great! overall I would give it an 8 but if the solo was cleaned up a little I would give it an 11 because the solo is such a large part of that.

The vocals were excellent and the add lib talking, the best I ever heard that covered it was like listening to the actual recording.
  • That was way kool! Was that you singing...nice production with to the vocals. I liked the rythm effects as well. RAWKON :!:
  • Man I like what you did to this Slash 8) I'll be honest though the SOLO well I kind here the Original I think if you just picked most of that up not all but most & let everything else the same WOW :D Don't get me wrong bro I love what you did that's just my thoughts  Kind of what Brian said that Solo is such a big part of this one 8)
  • Hey fellas,

    Thanks for the kind words.

I agree about the solo it's one of those tunes where the solo should be played like the original, and I apologize.

One of these days I will sit down and learn it.
  • Wow! Vocals were outstanding…Rhythm and lead sounded pretty cool…Love Pink Floyd stuff and you did a great job covering it with your own flavor. :):):)
  • This was kool. I did not mind that you went for your own solo. Recording was nice and loud. I can't seam to get my levels that loud. I am always into clip be fore I even start to get close to those levels.
  • David Gilmour is my all time favorite guitarist. Even he strays from the recorded leads often in live shows. I thought you did a great job on the solo especially the first chords that start it.
Some things I did miss were the descending fills, and the sixteenth note strumming of the clean guitar in the late chorus.

The vocals... well, you really nailed it there.

    Crits:
I think the whammy is too much during the chorus. Maybe could still work to my ears if it wasn't as pronounced. I also didn't like the envelope filter/wah/ya? on the clean guitar. Also maybe would still work for me if toned down some. But by no means do any of those wreck what you have. It's top notch and those are only stylistic opinions.
  • Kirkbauer, thatsastrat and Meathook,

Thanks for listening and commenting, it's greatly appreciated.

And thanks for the pointers, I'll take it all in. 8)

I have to add though, I'm not singing. Vocals were on the BT
  • I love what you did with this Slash....Very nice tribute to Floyd man, did you use the GNX3000, this sounded sweet

    great work
  • Hey Mac,

Long time no see, yeah I used the GNX3K.

I'm glad you liked it as you are a huge PF fan.

It's through listening to your posts that got me checkin out there stuff.

So you gone back to your 3k yet. or are you still playin with your new RP?
  • Hey Slash....I have been playing with the RP250 still.....I love it, so easy and as I do not have much space it suits me much better

I also have a Boss BR600 recorder that I use also , msome sweet guitar and vocal effects in that multitrack recorder

I am a huge Floyd fan and I loved what u did with this song, nice work mate!!
  • WOW! that was awesome, well done! I'm not a huge Pink Floyd fan but after listening to this made me think about listening to more of their stuff. I've heard the original version of this and i think you've done a great version of it, well done for making it your own and not copying the PF version exact.
