Help in choosing a Digitech workstation
Hey all... I'm wanting to upgrade my rig (I've used my old RP 6 for years now) and I have NO idea really about the differences in workstations.
THe new RPs have a lot less pedal controls, so I'm not crazy about them (what I like about my RP 6 is that I can switch off different parts of the sound/effect by using the four foot switches in the middle of a song).
That's why I'm thinking of going to the workstations.
Having said that - what's really the difference between the GNX4 and the GNX3000?
the 4 costs about $100 more, but it seems like it has fewer patches than the 3000 (but the same number of drum rhythms)? However, the 4 has a lot more downloadable tones than the 3000.
Appreciate your guys' input.

I'm running my RP6 into a mixing board that then goes to a 50W Marshall AVT head that drives a Mesa 4x12\" cab.

In the meantime...for overall versatility, nothing beats the '4's ability to record, connect to the puter via USB, and play MP3/MIDI. The different modes are kewl too.
As for the GNX4 vs GNX3000, I would suggest downloading the manuals and compare the features side by side. I think some of the big differences are that the GNX4 has a built in onboard 8 track recorder and the GNX3000 does not. Is the 8 track recorder worth the extra $100 - absolutely, for me anyway.
That's what I am stilll wanting....
Over the POD xt Live, the Boss, and over the 3000.
You can already get better sounds for the GNX4. I have read a number of positive articles on the MFX Supermodels CD for the GNX4. They compared the GNX4 and the GNX3000 side by side. Yes, without any add-ons, the GNX3000 sound was better. But if you add the MFX Supermodels to the GNX4, you get a much superior sounding machine than the GNX3000. At least, that is what the article said. I found the artlice using a Google search but did not keep the link, so one would have to search for it again. Sorry.
Yea what he said
