Cakewalk Home Studio

I am thinking of purchasing Cakewalk homestudio XL. I was wondering what you guys thought of it, or should I look at something else in the $160 range. Is there a big advantage over Protracks plus??

I also notice on musicians friend there was a homestudio XL academic version for $30 less but no info on what the differences are. I am trying to find out from musiciansfriend. You comments are greatly appreciated.

    there is generally no diffreance between a full version and an academic version. Most companys give discounts for \"Students\" by offering an academic version (academic versions are cheaper for students limited budgets). Most places that sell these will make you prove your a student somewhere. If you are, take advantage of the discounts!

    I can't speak of Cakewalk Home Studio. But Sonar 4 is a huge improvement over PTP. My guese is this Software you speak of wouyld be as well :D
