coverter adapter for xd to smartmedia - should i buy this ?

Hello, I just got my GNX3 yesterday and I am in love!!
What I am not in love with is the price of smartmedia cards. :shock:
Has anyone used the converter successfully and used the xd cards instead?? Does it work? I have heard bits and pieces that it does.

If so, is this a good one to buy?
