Mike B buys a GNX-3

but it's in lay-away for Christmas. :D It's the family gift to me! Also put a left handed Strat copy aside for my 13 year old daughter.

The other daughter wants drums, still looking around for those.

Come on Christmas.

  • That's great! What an awesome toy the GNX is. I've had the '3 and the '4, loved 'em both.
Now all you haveta do is find drums for your girl, or they'll be mad you got a GNX, and she got a set of bongos. :?
  • Congratulations on the new toy! Can't wait to hear some tunes. 8)
    Strats rule!
  • What ever you do with the drums, make sure they come in the right colour
  • Congrats. 8) I love mine. 8) Your gonna love being able to record on a whine with the controls at your feet.
What are you using now, and does your daugther get it for that new strat?
  • So does your daughter get the effects unit your using now? :D

Oh yeah, tell her that Leftys Rule!!! :P
  • Hey Mike,

You might want to check your local Brooks Mays stores for a great deal on drums. They are closing retail stores and everything is currently 20 tp 60% off. A bunch of drum stuff was a 40 off last I looked.

  • Yes I am getting excited. In the past I have used a Zoom 505, which was fun but didn't take long to get tired of, I have used an RP-200 which is how I found this sound community, and currently have a POD I use at Church. I like the tones the POD has especially the British Classic and the Roland Chours, but I dislike having to take my hands off the guitar to change something. So I like the idea of foot control again and the idea of warping amps sounds interesting too. I have downloaded a manual from the DT home page to start boning up on the GNX-3.

The drum daughter doesn't understand why I just won't get a gazillion piece DW kit, but Phil makes a good point about Brooks Mays, there is one fairly close to me, I need to go over and check out.

The lefty daughter may get the Zoom, I still have it stashed away, I don't think I'll let her take the POD, I'll probably let her experiment with it but she will need an amp too. I have a couple she can use in the house, but they are pretty heavy for a 13 year old to lug around. If she takes lessons I'll get her a nice little 8 inch practice amp.

The biggest thing now will be upgrading the home computer to record with. One of my IT friends is telling me computer prices are falling so he thinks I should be able to find a computer with enough ooomph to do what I am wanting for a reasonable price. We shall see

By the way my church is celebrating 50 years of serving Garland Tx, this weekend. I'll be playing with the Praise Team in a special service. And then in the afternoon I am getting together with some other players, Gary Kirchmier, Allan Smith, James Smith to play some country style praise music. Boy I am really excited about playing with Gary, Allan and James, they are super musicians, Allan plays fiddle really really well, James his brother plays bass and is never wrong, Gary plays anything with strings, so this is kind of a milestone for me to be included with them.
