The Pavoratti of the Plains Don Walser passes away 9-20-06
I was listening to KHYI 95.3, today and heard one of my favorite country singers Don Walser, originally from Lamesa Texas, although he was living in Austin , passed away last night 6 days after turning 72.
He spent 40 years in the National Gaurd, then retired and started touring singing traditional country and western swing music. He stayed away from the cosomopolitan Nashville country and stayed true to the roots of Texas style music he loved.
