Is the GNX4 the answer to my problem?
Background: A basement guitarist of 20 years
Tools: Strat(main), Cybertwin(main), Amazing Slow Downer, Several backing tracks
Requirements: Get OUT of the basement and AWAY from the computer
Problems Solvers:
1. Get a used laptop to ONLY use for Amazing Slow downer and backing tracks, plugged into my Pandora Portable Headphone amp (amazing device). I'm not hot on this idea as it sounds messy(wires) and battery issues. When it comes down to it, not that portable but better than what I have now.
2. Get a GNX4
, put all my music on flash. Now I have everything I need at my feet. Backing Tracks, other music to learn, effects, amps, drums, looper.... Except... My Amazing slow downer, now I've read in a review this has a Learn-A-Lick feature but I'm coming to the conclusion this reviewer was a little stoned as I can't find any further info on this. Can I sit on my porch with this unit and slow down my PopaChubby? If not, do I wait until the next latest and greatest comes out, maybe the GNX5 or is there nothing in the works. I gather this unit is over a couple years old making me think I should wait.

Then save the slowed down song, converted to an .mp3 out to your flash card for playback on the GNX4, and voila, you have your slowed down song out of the basement.
Anyway, my music studio is in the bonus room above the garage - too far from a PC. I have eveything run through my GNX3 like this:
Guitar -> amp -> amp headphone to GNX3 -> GNX3 output to a small monitor amp (and I also have another amp slaved off the main amp so I can hear it as I play).
It's just so easy to record where you play. I also have the foot switch for recording which makes it even easier. I prop up the GNX3 on an amp stand so I can easily get to the other recorder buttons the footswitch doesn't control.

Without the gNX3, I would have never done it.

PS. As for feeling the GNX4 is dated because it's been out for 2 years, my GNX3 is still very useful 4 years later.
:idea: I have a Digitech Jamman. I record straight from my computer to the pedal. It has compact flash and can hold 6.5 hrs of backing music mp3s loops whatever I want. you can plug 1/4 1/8 and XLR and have seprate volume levels to mix then all together with. Its a one man band in a pedal. Just got it am very pleased with it so far . Now I will not have to drag around my computer and all the trappings to play a live gig with a few musicians. also if I upgrade my pedal all my backing tracks basically the whole show wont have to be redone. It sounds great GNX3 to the PA or my Hotrod deluxe it has built in eqing depending on what you are running it through. Just a thought.
P.s. it also has a feature to slow down the tempo of tunes AFTER you record to it without changeing the pitch. Pretty cool for learning licks and makeing last minute adjustments to a tune. also has computer 3rd party software so you can arrange, rename, backup and print out a \"setlist of the tunes or loops you have on it. I find the 2 big footswitches it has MUCH more simple and quick to use live.
