Yah, $40 is going rate for these, and they're reviewed glowingly at H/Central. BUT...aren't they a stacked single coil, kinda high output? I have a HB pup at the bridge and I don't want it to be outgunned...
Keep in mind that in most stacks, the DC resistance is misleading. There's a dummy coil that adds to the resistance (usually doubling it), but adds no signal, and in fact slightly LOWERS the signal. Plus they use thin wire (43 AWG) that gives less output than 42 for the same resistance. I don't know if this is true of the BLs, but it is of many DiMarzios and others.
So, a 15k DiMarzio HS2 stack has specs that would say it's a very hot single, but it isn't - it's actually pretty standard output.

Thanks jester...I've decided I better stay away from stacked pups, and I'm not interested in actives. I do need a good hot output tho, 'cuz the guitar is setup with 500K controls...
