Voices

This came out pretty cool considering I am not a keyboard player. Recorded in Sonar XL using the following…
Guitar and Bass: GNX4
Voices: Kontakt 2
Drums: Storm Drum
Synths: Z3ta

  • kirkbauer, Man am I glad you joined the board... I really like your stuff! This is very Floyd-esque; also dream-like as is 'just an idea' but this is almost spooky with the unintelligible, sort of schizo-voices. Great arrangement... I like the way you fill and use the stereo spectrum; things just keep popping up in different places... very interesting. Only piece of feedback is that you might want to extend the fade across the entire last section that's just synth. As is, it ends sort of abruptly.
    *Great* job! - gh
  • Yeah nice instrumental stuff rocks. It has a kinda surreal ambience to it if that makes any sense! Anyone know where I can get tips/tutorials on using soft synths and apps like Kontakt? I have a few but don't know where to begin!!!

  • kirkbauer1,
Very cooool!! You always seem to come up with some great sounds. What or who (bands) would you say inspire you, are you into?? Just wondering?? I liked it alot!! What do you think of the storm drum?? I looked at the prodect detail after googling it, it seems like it offers quite a bit?? Hey keep the cool stuff flowing!!

    God Bless!!!

    Hi Shando,

    Thanks for the review!

As far as learning how to use soft synths and samplers like Kontakt you just need to experiment. I use all the keyboard stuff as VST within SonarXL. I use the Piano Roll to enter all the keybard stuff. I know enough keyboard stuff for chords and that is about it. Thank goodness for the Piano Roll. I typically enter a small amount of keyboard stuff and then use the freeze track functionality in sonar to avoid memory issues. Then I would copy that track to an audio track.

    Keep on making music…
    :)

    Hi partch,

    Thanks for the review!

Storm Drum has some great sounding stuff but there are times I have trouble finding the right drum sound for what I am doing. Storm Drum is great for movie scores and that sort of thing. I find EZDrummer a lot more useful and easier to work with. Get both if you can…Thanks again.

  • Very cool...
I'm starting to get into synths a little..
For not being a guitar player, I would consider it kick ass. 8)

    See Ya,

  • Really enjoyed the listen.
It's like Shot in the Dark meets Wish You Were Hear.
I'd watch that on a Saturday afternoon.
  • Excellent! That tune has a really cool feel to it. Nice mix of tones from synth to guitar, and very professional sounding recording. Keep up the good work! 8)
  • Excellent peice! This is the kind of music I have in my head that I just can't seem to get onto tape. If I could, maybe Elisha Cuthbert would start returning my phone calls.
So - I really gotta know - how long did this take you to put together? It sounds like 100 takes on 100 tracks!!! Where did the idea come from?
  • 8) What a great piece of music. I love the voices...sorta like the ones I hear in my head if I forget to wear my foil hat :?

    again great tune :!:
  • This has a great new age vibe going. Its as good as any of the commericial new age stuff I've heard. The middle secton feels like a Michael Hedges sort of groove. The choard progression and the main theme are both excellent.
  • dude i really liked that... thatt was great.... it has a Jag Panzer feel to it.. i love power metal kind of stuff... awesome..!!
