Satriani's Flying In A Blue Dream
Hey there all.
http://www.digitech.com/soundcomm/guitar_view_music.asp?productid=199&music_id=2369
This was a tough piece to record. Been meaning to try it for some time but was dodging the hard work. Thanks to a kick in the backside by SlashNBurn99, it finally happened.
It's not perfect, but I've had enough.
Acoustic guitars L,R & C channels are some patch I got from a guitar mag and tweaked, used with FastTrack1.
Bass is my fave bass patch, the Ampg Prc from the supermodels disc.
The lead guitar is a tweaked satch patch from the soundcomm (i think) by drmike, used with Evo2.
Drums are BFD plug-in by Fxpansion.
Recorded on Sonar3.
All comments welcome.

WOW!! That was awsome!!! So smooth just fantastic playing!! I'm not firmiliar with this tune?? But it sounded like Joes stuff!! That EVO seems to be doing well for Satch stuff. I heard there Higher Outputs than Joes Pickups?? Although I know his newest pickup MO JOE was going to higher output. Anyhow sounds great I espesially liked the Harmonics and tremlo stuff in this song!! all and the acoustic part sounded great, and man those drums. I geuse I just like the whole song!! Hey how does FXpansion work?? is it a sequencer that you have to program?? does it have samples that you build on?? Just wondering?? They sure sound great!!!
God Bless You!!!
Partch
Love this tune and you nailed it.
Great tone also.
Bloody excellent mate.
8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
what can I say---that was as sweet as pie
nicely done!!
always look forward to your posts
Just finished remixing. The rhythm guitar levels were too high. Also changed the drums in some places.
First of all, thanks everyone for uplifting comments. Really appreciate it.
Hey partch. The BFD drums can be used in a multitude of ways. I use it as a plug-in for Sonar3. I program the drums using the Sonar3 piano roll. The great thing about BFD is the different hit velocities. They actually recorded drum pieces hit at different velocities. You get amazing dynamics. Very tweakable. It also has a groove library, with prerecorded grooves if you just wanna jam along. And yes the Evo2 is proving itself.
Hey atkins. Used the GNX4.
Hey slash. Thanks for the motivation.
Hey paul. I found a sitar patch that was posted by you. Gonna try and use it in a song.
Thanks again guys.

rock on brother
who says animals are dumb...she knew who saved her butt.
Satch is the whole reason I'm \"back into\" guitar. Thank you for this...your best yet!
Thanks paul. Will give the sitar patch a test run soon. Had a quick play of it the other night and it seemed pretty cool. Trying to write some original stuff as suggested in the \"Extremist\" posts. Don't expect too much, though. My music theory is pretty sketchy.
Hey tim. LOL Nope its gavin. Wish i was joe! Would be able to afford an Ibanez JS top of the line axe and a Peavey JSX amp. (Drool...)
Thanks mate for your encouragement yet again.
Manitou! Compadre! Mate, it's great to meet a fellow smoke-eater on here. Love that pic!
Hey thanks for your comments. Very uplifting.

Haven't been around in a bit. Listened to your version 2 and went to check the first post to see what you used for the lead. I was thinking that it sounded awesome and was blown away to see that it might have been my patch. I'd love it if you'd post it so I could see how you tweaked it. I really like your sustain and the harmonics. Seems like you cut down on the reverb and delay ?
Really good job. If it is indeed a tweaked version of the patch I posted, then this is the exact song I had in mind when I put that patch together.
Keep up the good work !
The lead tone was pretty much spot on.
Once again excellent work:)
Michael.
That was Awsome :!: Great tone as well. Thanks for posting and the free music lesson.
Hello drmike.
Man I gotta thank you for the excellent satch patch. Yep I sped the delay up a bit. Also, I think I may have given the tube screamer a bit more kick. But it didn't need much alteration. Your patch was spot on the money. I think the Evo2 Dimarzio helped too.
I have to say that the feedback sounds were created by overdubbing tracks. There was no chance of creating natural feedback as I was recording direct into the soundcard. Many thanks doc on a great patch.
Hey there sans2012.
Thanks mate for your great comments. I too had most of satch's collection on vinyl. Those were the days eh. Credit for the lead tone goes to drmike for creating the patch. Its his baby!
Heya odannyboy.
LOL Thanks mate for your awesome comments. But lets remember... I'm merely playing satriani's music. How about satch creating this stuff. The mind boggles. Again, credit for the lead tone goes to the great drmike!

Cheers and keep up the excellent work:)
Michael.
LOL No worries mate.
Thanks yet again,

OMG firejack... I am not worthy. I am not worthy. You're on my iPod, man.
