Really hadn't noticed.

I've bought 3 axes since January!!!!
That's about an axe every 2 months...
No wonder Mrs. Tal wont speak to me...

Well here's the rundown..
So far this year I've bought a 97 model Gibson Blues Hawk which is damn near the most verstatile guitar that I own Tone-Wise and the P-90 pickups are just bitchn'.. 8) ..
A 97 American Standard Telecaster. Hard to get anything to sound like a Tele but a Tele. 8)
And Finally a brand American Standard Stratocaster. In black... 8)
Thought I'd post a pic of a Blues Hawk, since many of you may not be familiar with them. They are indeed a cool axe.. 8)

Now that you mention it, I've bought a couple of axes this year myself. I bought a new Mexicaster in Surf green this spring. It was ok, but I added locking sperzels, ferraglides, and a custom cut (heavy, nee vintage) trem block and a shorter trem bar to improve it's behavior. It has helped considerably, even with the stock p/u's. I have to say I think the Mexican fender offering is a supreme value guitar.
I just paid on a new axe today. A Peavey HP special in tobacco burst. I played a few of these recently at a guitar store and fell in love
I'm away on summer vacation, but i'll post pic's of 'em as soon as I get home.
Peace,
Dobb.
P.S. Tal, did you get an inheritance, or are you working in divorce Law? The 12 inch pianist perhaps?????
So the only guitar I've bought this year is a epi LP
I'd like to sell the Ibanez, it ain't floatin' my boat...I got spoiled with my '82 Artist that I went and sold like a dumb a$$. I have an Ibanez bass I really dig too, but the RG ain't doing it for me. I play my FatStrat copy more.
You LIVE the Rule...\"love one woman....many guitars\" :!:
I don't have as much GAS as you.
My Jackson missed out by one month.
It is an \"eeriedess DK2 Dinky\"
I am getting more fussy though..and harder to please.
I have been dredging the bottom looking
for an Ibanez S540 like this one...only
red with a maple neck. They are very rare...but I will not stop
until I find one.
God Bless!!

In March I bought a lefty Epiphone Les Paul (black beauty).
I wasn't very happy with it and think all the raving about how good Epiphone's LP copies are, are from people who haven't played a Gibson LP
In South Africa it cost R5,000 ($800). Ridiculously over-priced!
In May I imported a Gibson LP lefty!! Desert Burst. It cost R17,500 ($2,916)
after an amazing discount of R7,500 ($1,250). No regrets, best guitar ever in my opinion! Still over-priced.
I trully envy you guys in the States and Europe that can decide on a axe and go out and buy it, we in Africa have to import the good stuff, or just go without it. At the stage when I bought the Gibson LP lefty, there were only 1 other in the hole South Africa.
Okay..... I feel better now. Needed the ranting and raving.
Ps: I had to import a GNX3000 as well R4,800 ($800) Insane!
Parker P-38
Line 6 Variax 500
Ibanez JS1000 (used)
Ibanez AE100 Acoustic
2 x Schecter C1+ (love these - my #1 and #2)
Jackson Dinky DXMGT
Jackson Dinky DXMG Hardtail
Was up to six different axes... now I'm back down to four: The 2 C1+'s, an MiM Strat, and an Ibanez AS83. 8)
You should see the amps I went through!
1)variax300
i have aquired
1)cheap spanish classical
2)epi les paul custom
by the end of the year i want to have aquired a standard strat and a steel string acoustic.
not as exciting as you lot but i have spent thousands on new computers/various versions of Sonar/mirophones/amps/keyboards etc..etc..
Yeah its similar in Australia, but might not be so bad. Things have their price inflated, not because of the exchange rate, and this makes everything really really expensive here.
To answer the original question: NONE!
I just played my whole lunch break outside it's gorgeous and the guitar plays sooooo well
best buy of the year
Fender standard Telecaster
Agile lp 3000
Larrivee omv-9e
guild starfire IV
It was 10 years since i bought a guitar before this year though. Not sure if my plate is full or if its the start of something wonderful.
I have my eye on a Peavey HP Special as well. They're supposed to sound and play even better than they look. Really keen to know how accurate the hype really is.
Looking forward to your pics. Also, can you let me know if they live up to the hype?
Thanks mate,

Since Feb I have purchased a Fender American Deluxe Strat HSS, an Ovation LX6756 12-String and I just ordered a PRS Singlecut...that I found in a music store I happened to stop into while traveling through Colorado.
And there are 5 full months left in this year!!
There was no early stages of GAS for me. I went head first into it and I can't get the monkey off my back!
I have only bought 2 guitars this year. I bought and Amrican deluxe strat as well (how do you like yours twsimmons? I also bought the Eric Johnson signature Fender strat.
I have done some work on my third strat that it is prcatically a new one.
Help! Someone call 911. Guitar Center has locked me in their store and will not let me leave.
Well, as promised I have a few pic's. I've had the HP special now for a few days and well, I'm now convinced Hartley Peavey is ALOT smarter than I first thought. He was definately paying attention during Eddies alleged rants over the years. Case in point, taking the best features of the Wolfgang series one step further AND added some of the ideas/ features that Eddie just wouldn't let 'em do. The result, a well made, fine looking, playing, sounding guitar...I'm loving it more every day!
For all the Wolfgang fans (I've had a few Wolfies myself) the main differences between the HP special and the Wolfgang are;
1.) Coil tapping, direct mounted, custom wound p/u's(10x versatility of the Wolfy with one little feature.)
2.) A small switch on the back of the trem(a peavey invention) so you can instantly switch from full floating trem to blocked trem, very cool!
3.) Longer body lines and a much more comfortable feel thanks to a nice sculpted back.
It can really do about 95% of a wolfy impersonation, but with a hell of a lot more options and versatility, but of course no D-tuna (thats 100% Eds.). Here it is against my favorite Wolfgang for comparison:
Another guitar I bought this year but failed to mention was a (pre-fender) DeArmond S-73. I bought it because I already owned its twin, the S-73-12. Some dude from Texas had bought it new, played it for a month, and stuck it in his back shed for 12 years. I saw it on ebay all nasty and I had to have it! I had to do the full nine yards restoration job on it, but it's a solid 8.5-9.0 now. Plays nice, TONS of sustain, and medium jumbo frets. The DeArmond pickups have incredible clean tones. and it plays WAY better than I thought it would, just needed locking sperzels. The S-73-12 string BTW is 20lbs of chimey goodness 8). Heres the \"Twins\":
I've been working tirelessly to complete the renovation of the Dungeon studio...a dungeon no more...
As you can tell by the big freakin mess (
Peace my Brothers,
Dobb.
In response to your question, I really love it so far. It is my first strat so I have nothing to compare it to, but I really like the verstility of the HSS setup with the S-1 switch. You can get so many different tones out of it.
I also like the LSR roller nut...what a cool concept. I guess they figure with the trem and the humbucker you'll be dropping bombs like Eddie V!!
Is it bad when the staff @ Guitar Center (in more than just one department  ) know you by name??
Tim
Hey man nice stuff!! Very nice space for your studio as well!! I would love to have an area (Room) just for jamming, practicing, recording etc..!!
Probably will be quite some time as our current home just don't allot for it with 3 Kids.
God Bless!!!

I haven't bought any gtrs this year though I do want a resonator. Though I'm not sure if I'll make a purchase this year as a motorbike must come first, and I got to got to Bosnia soon.
TY

I've tried out a couple and they really do feel like a Wolfgang. I did not know about the tremelo switch. Personally I still prefer and original Floyd over the licensed version. If the guitar came stock with an original, it would be part of my collection for sure. I might take the plunge and get a custom shop! 8)
Dobb I really dig that wolfgang and the HP just looks like they making a great guitar even better.
Thanks for the compliments, I really felt like a kid at Christmas (maybe even Hanukka :P ) over the last week as the carpet, paint, furniture AND the HP came in the same week
ne1roc, I gotta tell you that I found out thru Geoff as well. I was a fan of his site for a long time, and the first wolf I bought was the EXP korean dealy. Well I was frought with trem problems, then the frets all popped out. I spent hundreds repairing it, but ultimately sold it. Geoff helped me to buy the first American Wolfgang (he has 200+), and still my fave (the dark cherryburst pictured)at no benefit to him. Anyway, I went to my local peavey dealer and played three HP specials (2 flat top and 1 CT) and I really fell in love! Their prices were high though, and all of their guitars looked like a million kids had already attempted their anthems on them
The online custom shop was supposed to open mid-July but nothing yet. They're probably behind from NAMM and all. Rumors are surfacing of delivery/demand problems. Waits up to a year for CS models right now, this may delay the opening of the online CS to the public further. I've decided after owning some very fine production guitars, that I am going to build a CS as well 8) . I'm just not so sure about waiting a year
Peace,
Dobb.
I'm TOTally jealous. It looks great!
My music room/studio is a teeny spare bedroom, complete with bed (with my Roland on it) and side tables holding my mon's. My mike stand blocks the closet door and my guitars are all leaning against the side of the bed. My pick box and tuner sit on the window sill. The floor looks like a spider web of cables. I've tripped over stuff so many times it's amazing any of my cables still have plugs and my guitars still have any paint on them. And I don't even have a wife or kids to stay out of the way of. :?
It only seems fair, if I'm going to cram myself into a little room, I should at least have Diane Kruger to sleep with. Sheesh.
