are you guys on garageband yet?
cos you should be because its very cool - i post any old crap on this forum but if you have a track youve worked hard on and want to know what other people think then submit it to garageband - the way it works is pretty cool - to earn reviews you have to review other's tracks, but your reviews have to be good and critical (they get marked!) after 30 tracks have been reviewed you can enter your track in the competition and it gets the same treatment from others - its really cool -= the bad reviews ive got have been really helpful and constructive and the good ones really put a smile on my face 8)
the best thing is that when you get a song to review you just hear the tune you dont know anything about the title or the artist - you only get to tfind that out afterwards - its often fun to check out what other people have said about the same track and see if you are saying similair things.
try it out - distant thunder is the track ive got entered at the moment - im pretty chuffed with what people are saying;

that guy who thinks its a strat but reckons i got the sound with a different setup is right BTW - its a Squier Stagemaster through a Marshall MG10CD recorded with a £12 mic into my old RPX400
the bass was DI into the RPX with no patch and the drums were betamonkey loops - add reverb and a touch of BBE Sonic Maximiser and badabing! my best solo ever!
its a good community feel too because if you hear a track you really liked and commented as such the band will often OM you to say hello - i reallly like the vibe over there you should check it out.

And yes, everyone should get in on this - great way to find new music and get your music reviewed.
i (and im sure you too) get to 'serve' justice on reviewers now - im fair, but if the reviewer is an idiot he deserves to be reamed.
TLF = how sodding cool is movement underground~??!?!?!? proper industrial gofather - id never have guessed it from the handfull of tracks you posted over here, somthing very Knight Rider about the song (a good thing!) and you seem to know your way around a soft synth too. = cool!
i tried to listen to the track syou suggested but im on dial up (i know i know and the wheel is quite a cutting edge invention for me etc... etc..) ill have to wait till im at work - industrial goth eh??? who'd have thunk it?
didi you ever listen to front 242?
it's happened to me!
i wouldnt have minded if he was talented but he was an arse!
check out my incredibly articulate riposte 8)

guy had it comin' im a very generous reviewer because i try and put myself in the bands shoes and try to understand what they are doing not just \"not my cup of tea, i think it would be better if you sounded like this\" etc etc..
the trick is to be constructive - and TBH i have found TONS of cool music on garage band = loads of really talented bands whose CD i would happily buy.
I take my time also--I think I did six songs the first day and that was plenty. Now a couple a day is enough.
your right ---If we all put others first we'd be better off. Something as easy as constructive criticism but with some kind words also. I don't know---you can never tell exactally what a person is saying over the puter---without a lot of verbage. I guess it's better to er to the kind side.
I tried to ck out your rip but even after cutting and pasting couldn't find it.
who can tell me how to quote someone else without quoting thier whole post?
I think part of the trick is finding your audience - since many people will be judging the songs grouped by genre, stuff like ours is ridiculously difficult to pigeonhole. I mean, what are we, what do you call that kind of music? I personally don't like genre subdivisions, so it wasn't my call - and that time we missed. Another however many reviews to upload them again! Maybe we'll just wait until the better ones are recorded.
Then again, it's important to get all kinds of feedback, so I suppose if you're the type of band trying agressively to actually make it in the music business, you'd be looking to score in several categories, and tailor your song to those. That part about it I like, at least from an objective point of view.
And then tracks like Crazy B&tch thrive in genres like Experimental Rock! We were track of the day once, and made it to the second round! I couldn't believe it - that's probably one of my least favorite songs that we've written. It's old, and my tastes have, um, matured shall we say.
- the guy was harsh on me though telling me i cant play the blues and i was trying to use my talent to dig myself out of a hole in the song but i didnt have the talent to do it and that i need to go away and think about that facts he has laid before me!??! thats not constructive its just diss.
= now okay, i know im not good, first to admit it but when you hear what he plays!!! jeez!!! how does he have the right to criticise anyone? now if he was john lee hooker that would be something - but he's more like pee wee herman!
Aawful MIDI muzak pop jazz Vomit - and his guitar is at least a semitone out of tune - its ok to savage me if you know what you are talking about but it's uncool to mess if you are just an idiot! - and this guy is an idiot.
....having said that please dont let me put y'all off signing up to garageband
BTW just click the quote button and the delete the text you dont want to include after the ']' and before the '['
Iliace = yes its strange actually deciding you dont care anymore and throwing your tracks out to the public for their devourement - never ceases to amaze me what people really think - i guess i really dont have a clue what im doing after all - all i know is i have to do it.
Don't take it personally man, everyone should express themselves as they can. Some people do it by posting music up for reviews, others by ripping music posted up for reviews. It's all relative.
Got a little spot at soundclick and I let everyone right up front know..
If you like what I do that's cool...
And if you don't that's cool too...
I'm just having fun...
So forgive me If I strained your sensibilities..
I've made a few freinds over there and as you guys have found at Garageband, just some fantastic players, and musicians...
Everyones taste is different and that's what makes the world go round...
If anyone's interested here's my soundclick site.
http://www.soundclick.com/rollandharrison
Pretty much everything posted there is here as well...
I actually prefer this board for music posts because you can post MP3's here, rather than the soundclick site that compresses the MP3's even more for quick downloads to their proprietary player...
Also most people on this board are straight out guitar players which is what I really enjoy doing...
My 2 Cents..
I truly dug Reggae Mortis and The Ghosts of Mars. I love that \"space feel\". In reggae mortis you have a great change at like 4:36 which I really got off on. Great mix of styles on that but blended very well. Don't be so hard on yourself, I think you play well. The point is , though, YOU have to be happy, to heck what anyone else says in a review, etc. I've been playing for years and I'm still not very good, but every day I continue to try to find something new/ create a new tune, etc. One of the reasons a lot of those tunes are a few years old on AP is that I figured out after doing it a few years that I didn't really care that much what other people thought in that \"forum-like\" context. I have continued to write and record tunes but I have a weird little following I give CD's to and get their opinions which have a lot of value to me because it is 100% objective. I'm glad you liked Movement Underground, BTW, Thanks for the nice words.....
Also...I still can't get \"pop goes the weasel\" out of my head. heeha ha HA heh....heeha ha HA heh.....heh heh heh HEH.
I'd never survive the first critique.
Dude, don't beat yourself up over it. I know it's easier said than done especially when you read a negative comment written about something you have put so much time and effort into creating and the red mist descends. But at the end of the day that dude has wasted a few minutes of his life he won't get back and for what? Just to appear to be a smart a*s and irritate whomever may read his review and colour (yes c-o-l-o-u-r Im a Brit lol) their opinion of him negatively. What counts is that you enjoy doing it if anyone else does it's a bonus. I know I enjoy listening to the tunes you've posted. Anyone who reads his review of your tune will obviously see him for what he is. If it was me I don't think I'd have bothered with the riposte, although I'm guessing you probably went into one in the heat of the moment (the red mist again), as it's just not worth the negative mental energy-for me anyway.

I totally agree TY,
Anyone who would bash someones hard work instead of offering constructive criticism on a site like this or garage band is compensating for their own insecurity most likely caused by having a very tiny penis  . Either that or they have watched WAY too much American Idol  .
