OK, bringing this post from the pazst back to like:
-Hendrix
-Beck (Most vocal and best overall control of tone and instrument)
-Eddie Van Halen
-SRV
-Prince (Hands down one of the most under-rated and least talked about guitar GODs alive)
Welllll...the poll ? ain't on the money - while both of those guys were both skilled and ahead of their time, thy're not the best ever. Compared between, I'd say Page, just 'cuz I like what he did better.
And of course, there's oodles of great git'rists to name, but I'm gonna go with my ol' fave RUSH, 'cuz I never get tired of what Lifeson can do with a git'r, and he's entirely self-taught.
Ya also gotta hand it to Lifeson when it comes to his LIVE performances. No over dubbing and still creating a \"wall of sound\". Simply awesome.
And my list of favorites is still:
-Hendrix
-Beck (Most vocal and best overall control of tone and instrument)
-Eddie Van Halen
-SRV
-Prince (Hands down one of the most under-rated and least talked about guitar GODs alive)
