GenEdit vs X-Edit

Having gone thru the forum here I can't find anything concrete that will help me get GenEdit working on my GNX3. First, what's the difference between GenEdit and X-Edit. I downloaded both but can't seem to find a clear statement about them.

I'm trying to get GenEdit to work on my GNX3 but I'm getting slaughtered with \"A SysEx Message was not formated correctly\" and \"The device received corrupt data\" error messages.

I'm able to pull out and modify a preset in the GNX3 but cannot load one from any other source. Nor can I pull one out, save it and then reload it. Also, I can't restore my backups that I just made seconds before. Any attempt at these things causes the error messages above.

I unistalled GenEdit 1.6 and then installed 1.51 but that didn't help either. I checked the MAudio drivers too but they haven't been updated for 3 years.

I use a MidiSport 1x1 and have absolutely zero problems with BIAB or PowerTracks. What kills me is I can communicate, I just can't do anything with it.

Anyone have any ideas?

thanks

  • Be sure you uninstalled the editors before anything else. That has been a key role in most errors as you indicate. Be sure the Maudio drivers are current. If you cannot find them, contact tech suppt at Maudio. That's what I did and they sent a url for new drivers via email.

The part of having creatin functionality leads to the install/uninstalls of the Editor. As you know in most cases, uninstall does not provide a 100% clean delete of the program. Most likely you still have some leftovers in the folders and files associated with previous installs.

There may alos be a case of some dll file not working. Contact Digitech tech suppt and talk to Shane.
  • Make sure the MIDI in on your GNX receives the MIDI out from your interface. MIDI out on GNX should go to MIDI in on your interface.
  • Thank-you gents for your replies. I tried the cable swap to no avail. Double checked my driver version. Will now try tech support.

Just out of cusiosity, what version OS is everyone running on their GNX3? I upgraded to 1.4 -do I have to be at 1.5 for genedit to work? (That's another very problematic process)

    thanks again
  • 1.5 is the latest - the updater software makes it pretty easy to update the version, if you can get it to work - if not, try MidiOx or similar software.
