OK who got what from guitar center on memorial day

I looked and looked andwas be tempted by a nice little epi les paul but while I was trying other guitars ---someone else grabbed it
Oh well--- I think that the prices weren't that great and it's nothing that I couldn't of gotten any other day w/ some haggling

I did buy a little epiphone starter pac for my sons to fight over and the thing sounds really good--I'm suprised ---paid $99
what did you guys get?

  • well, not because of any memorial stuff, just because... I got myself this over the last couple of days:
    -Line6 Echo Park delay
    -Tonebone Hot British
    -TC Electronics Chorus/Flanger/Pitchshifter
-Lemon Fuzz, handmade fuzzpedal from Great Britain.

All 2nd hand, though the Echo Park and Lemon Fuzz were both just 3 weeks old (got them at ~65% of the normal price :P )
  • Yeah, I was there at 8:00am and picked up a 50watt Line 6 Spider (not for me---for my 10 year old Daughter whose birthday is next week)...I WAS drooling over a \"Santana Paul Reed Smith\" tho, but it wasnt marked down ($2,700.00)....I'm savin up my pennies to add one of those to my collection sometime next year (I HOPE)
  • Nearest Guitar Center for me was 200 miles away. I would have spent $50 in fuel just to go there.

I took advantage of smegolas heads up...on the Behringer B2031A sale through Musician's Friend. A set of Sennheiser HD 280 Pro. A pair of 20' speaker cables, a set of D'Addario 12 string guitar strings...(for Nasville tuning on my 6 string) and a 3-pack D'Addario XL 110's. :D

I'm so weak....I have the syndrome....I need help!!
  • Around 8:30 I made it in the door for free Dunkin Doughnuts and coffee. No one asked for the post card as it stated and they handed out \"The List\". I looked around and asked the black teeshirt boys if anyone could demonstrate the GNX4. No luck. As I was leaving outside the front door, the bouncer asked for \"The List\" back. I told him I'll be back.

Around 4 PM the bouncer looked very surprised to see me as though I told him the truth. Now with \"The List\" studied away from bump and grind noise, I bought a Furman M-8L for $30 and a Rolls DB25 for $20. With some new black teeshirt boys in the evening I asked if anyone could demonstrate the GNX4. Another salesboy jumped in from the back room. So walking toward the front he tries a bait and switch to a Boss! Blasphemy! Further questioning revealed he never came close to understanding DigiTech.

Being as nice as possible here, I highly recommend next year's coffee and doughnuts as a marketing ploy. Be careful. You spill - you buy. So another non-GC music store has an employee USING a GNX4 and a little higher price will be worth the consultation.
  • As far as GC goes, If you do not get it on sale, try it out there first, then buy online!
  • Heheh... I was #5 in line. Got there at 6:30am (a friend of mine actually got there around 6:00) and saved me a spot. By 7:45 there were about 40-50 folks in line. I ended up with a few t-shirts (giveaways and prizes) and some other items. But ll in all... the price cuts weren't anywhere near as dramatic as what I expected.

Two friends (including the early bird above) picked up Les Pauls for about half of what they would be new (right around $1000).

I looked for quite a while but really didn't see anything that made me go \"wow\". So I headed on over to the Effects area, did a little dealing, and came away with a couple of pedals, and a guitar stand.

Like someone said above, I didn't see any pricing that was lower than what I could typically get on any given day by haggling a bit. What a let down (even the friends who were with me said the prices were not as good as they have been in past M-Day sales).

Meh... o well. I probably won't make the same decision next year (to get up too early).
  • Kewlpack, I must say I am quite disappointed in you. I live my GAS life vicariously through you, and now I read that WE didn't get crap to play with   . I feel so empty inside :(

    Second that notion :-)

Actually I feel that. I didn't end up getting anything either, this past weekend. I've had many trips to GC like that - look around, but nothing that you think you need/want really appeals to you at the moment. Then again, I've had quite a few trips where I've walked out $1000s poorer...
  • AND I was lookin at THE LIST
I was lookin for another jbl eon which are going for @400 normally
They were sellin a pair for $600 But I just need one. They would only come down to 370 on one.
    I can wait I guess.
I still might go back for that les paul or SG  OOOOH YAAAAAAAAAAAA!!
  • I gotta Roll.

I'm heading for N. Carolina. Ahhhhhh Maggie Valley...I've missed you. 8)

Any way Paul....glad I'm not the only one whooze got GAS.!!

I'm taking my Jackson DK2 and a Dean Stack in a Box to practice on the road.

Excuse my idiocy here, but what is W.O.W?
  • It's a promotion for a famous radio pair Opie and Anthony. W.O.W. originally stood for Whip'em Out Wednesday, and was expanded to Whip'em Out Whenever.

    http://www.opieandanthony.com/stickers.cfm

There is also a website where the female fans send in WOW photos to be rated.
  • I went there and didn't walk out with anything. I wanted a nice condenser mic but none were on sale. I asked to see a Yngwie scallop sig guitar, they did not have one but showed me the Vai JEM E7 which was nice, but at 1800 way to much for meh. Plus there were too many Black Tee-shirt boys running around constantly asking us if we want to see anything, one finally walked by and started saying \"Wandering, wandering, wandering around\" very loudly as if he were talking to us the customers. I replied with, \"They pay you to do what?\". lol

On a lighter note, I just got my Peterson VS-2 strobe tuner today, it's sweet! 8)
  • I live 1000 miles from anything like a GC, so I do a lot of online acquiring; it's good, 'cuz it helps keep my G/A/S in check.
And yet - in the last 4 months I've gotten a 2/ch amp and Nady's, plus a pair of Furman 31band EQs to play my GNX4 through (my trusty ol' Peavey Special is gathering dust, cuz my setup sounds so good); a little Behringer mixer, a Juno-60 (an old favorite of mine), a new Jackson ax, also an Ibanez RG3 hardtail w/EMG's, along with a slew of peripherals: cables, some cheap mics, a new mic stand, oh gawd, make it stop!!!!

  • I got to GC about 7:30. I was surprised that the there were only a few ( 10 or so) people in line..I ended up running a quick errand beforehand. I was only like #15 in line when they opened the doors. I was pretty disappointed with the gear turnout/pricing, etc. But I did buy a set of Noiseless Pickups ( Fender-VIntage for $119) - usually 149. Not the greatest deal but OK... Before I cut up my strat, I tested the coils and noted that one was DOA and had to bring the set back - And they had no inventory so it was a waste of time.....

I was also pretty surprised they didn't have any givaways this year.... I was expecting Gift certificate raffles etc for the first 50 people like last time but it didn't happen...
  • Perhaps all those freebies got gobbled up by the higher gas prices (creating lower profit margins for the stores).

It seems to be the case everywhere (more and more often)... but that's a whole other topic.
  • Gathered up my Epi Joe Pass, that I bought from GC last year with Hard Shell Case, took it up do a little trading. I played it about a month before I decided I needed a Gibson ES175. Been collecting dust ever since.
Paid $600 plus Tax for the axe..

Found a LP Standard AA top they had marked down to $1680. Brought the Joe Pass in and asked what they'd give me for it.
    Answer $175...

Packed my crap up and went home..
Bought 7K woth of axes last year and that's the only one I bought from GC. Buy a few picks and strings from em' and that's about it..

Oh well off to do some more shopping on EBay and Music123..

    See Ya,
    Tal...

Hey Tal, I can totally relate. I don't even bother taking my stuff in to be insulted anymore. It's inconvenient, but I always get more selling it on my own. You bought 7k worth of axes last year?? You and I need to be best friends :D:D:D

    See Ya,
    Tal...

I guess I lucked out. :? I had a Epi SG I had for about 6 months ($580 with case). Gave me back 580 credit then sold me a Gibson SG standard (Heritage cherry) new for 900 bucks. :) went back for the matching Gibby case and got that on memorial day for $119. So they didnt get to rip me off on my trade in    this time I guess.

 7k worth of git fiddles... Tal...excellent
  • I think I made a good score. I got a Peavey Valveverb for $45. They normally go for around $250-$350 bucks.
  • i got a $75 dress shirt for $20, A $80 pair of dockers for $22, and a $35 tie for $12 from Kaufman's ... just thought I'd share! :P
  • Epiphone Les Paul Classic Quilt Top (Tobacco Sunburst). Leather, studded strap, Road Runner gig bag and a set of DR 10-46's.
